BINGO !! Right here ^. This is so true and really not that hard to figure out. I saw Ellen and Erin acting like phony children and almost threw up. And before the ‘Cal did so much for the state’ fans chime in PLEASE understand he never did any good for anyone unless the cameras were rolling and social media was all over it. It’s easy to act generous when you steal 9 mil a year. He only played nice when it benefited HIM.

I will say, the times I encountered Cal, the cameras were not rolling and he purposely went out of his way to show kindness and attention to people that could do nothing for him, perhaps those who may have otherwise been overlooked. He sought them out, and I appreciated that. I remember he would talk about never forgetting from where he came and looking to do good to others, to lift them up. So on this point I will attest that I personally saw his kindness when there was no recognition.
So being a condescending jackass was a persona he put on just for the cameras? Tough for me to buy that.
I think Cal was genuine for the first 5 or 6 years, but then he put himself above the program.
Sure, there was the disaster relief stuff, which was nice, but it was another teaching moment for his NBA bound players. I'm cool with that, that's what he should do.

It was when the NBA draft became more important than UK basketball that got me. It meant losing was okay, as long as his featured guys got exposure.
Then he barked at the BBN for calling him out on it.
I appreciate what he did his first 10 years here, but those last 5 years, were laced with some awful coaching, bad team construction and screwed up priorities.

He had started giving scouting reports on upcoming games and was very interactive. When you read his last few posts he gives no hint about leaving or being gone for awhile. I don’t believe he would have just disappeared without saying some sort of goodbye. He wasn’t like that.
