Start with Louisville, the Champions Classic, CBS Classic...then what?

I think we should bring back the Big Four, only replace Notre Dame with Purdue.

One destination tournament. That's three games.

So now we have like 4-5 games left. Pick from teams like Western, Eastern, Morehead, etc, as well as border schools like Evansville, Cincinnati, WVU/Marshall, etc.

Why do we need to play teams like Lipscomb?

I want IU back on the schedule as well as some in season tournaments. I don't why Cal shied away from those.
For a cool bit of nostalgia, Super 70s Sports has a 1979 Great Alaskan Shootout TShirt for sale. Think I'm going to order it.

I want to back to Maui, keep the Champions Classic, remove the stupid CBS Sports Classic and bring back the home and home with UNC, maybe a home and home with Kansas on years we don't play in the Champions Classic, and obviously the Louisville game. If you gave me that I could take or leave Indiana.

Kentucky and Dook should play yearly 2 of the biggest names in Basketball should get it on every season. IU in Louisville every year and throw in a Thanksgiving Tourney or how about host one in Rupp with good teams. Zona Oregon UCONN Nova Purdue Illinois WVA Texas Tech USC UCLA etc Call it the Bluegrass Shootout, Battle of the Bluegrass, Bourbon Trail Invitational whatever. Champions classic needs to replace Michigan St with UCONN.

The only reason I wouldn't want IU back on the schedule is that I don't want to give them any validation. Let them wallow in the obscurity they've been in since we stopped playing them.

I'd just like to play an early season tournament or two again.

I love big games in Nov/Dec, but 4 problems with dream schedules:

...$$ lost if not playing "Lipscomb" in Rupp
...Team needs bunny games to mature and unite
...SEC has become basketball conference
....Early losses count at Seeding in March

1. An annual neutral site game with Duke, maybe in Nashville. Abandon the Champion's Classic.
2. Maui Invitation for sure.
3. A neutral site game with Indiana or UNC.

Need to get IU on a home and home.

Would love to get duke on a home and home the years we don’t play them in the champions classic.

Would like to see a big event with the lady hoops, maybe multiple events. Back to back games. They play then men play or vice versa.

People want too much. It's not realistic to put together everyone's dream fantasy schedule.

No power 4 team is gonna play 8 games against power 4 teams ooc when they already have a gauntlet n the sec. That's a recipe for a lot of ooc losses and then people on here will bitch.

Rotate between UNC and Duke neutral site big game.

Home and home with IU.

Week long statewide tournament with EKU, WKU, NKU, Georgetown, Kentucky State, Bellarmine, UofL and UK.

Bahamas exhibitions.

Maybe I'm overlooking something obvious, but why play neutral site games at all? Teams like UK, Kansas, UNC, Duke, UConn should WANT to play each other home and home on a regular basis. It's a guaranteed sell-out, opportunity for Quad-1 win, and would count as a 'good' loss if it doesn't go your way. Much better than paying a crap team to come to Rupp for a weak crowd.

What am I missing?

Get rid of the CBS sports classic, just do a home and home with UNC or UCLA. Play in Maui or Atlantis or one the NIl tourneys. And play some new mid majors every year.

The tournament isn’t played in a home/away venue. The allure of non-conference neutral games is getting prepped for postseason play without home court advantage factored in.

This. I'm all for the Maui and other neutral tournaments as well but have never understand the outrage over playing strong opponents at neutral sites.

UK has always played like 2 power 5 like teams at Rupp most seasons. This year its only 1 with UL but usually there is a 2nd. Its more of a test to play road and neutral games anyways so I'm ok with it.

I'd like to hear why several people want to go back to playing IU. Indiana needs that game far more than we need it. They really have no rival game they can play and it helps keep them in relative obscurity that we don't play them.

Aren't we supposed to play them n a 3 game series in a couple of years?

I agree, they are dog crap. They dont deserve UK.

Has UK ever played at Cameron Indoor?

I want this schedule:

Louisville
IU
Play both those teams every year

Rotate between home & homes with - UNC, Duke, & Kansas.

I want an early season tournament.

If we are handing out paycheck games, give me EKU, Morehead, NKU. WKU can screw themselves. Doesn’t have to be all 3 every year. Just rotate between those and few other in state schools. Maybe Murray St?

I want the Cincinnati area game back. US Bank arena can be the venue again for NKY & Cincinnati area fans. I used to love when they would come and play Miami Ohio or UD or Wright State type teams.

Usually coaches help out a friend or coach they have a connection with by giving them a game. I don’t mind that.

The rest, I don’t care about. We need some tune up games.

I absolutely detest Indiana.

Never in Bloomington again.

Not ever going back to that. Screw IU. Let them earn to play us in the tournament.

Hoosiers are irrelevant

I just felt like replying to myself on that rant.

Thank you, back to your regularly scheduled thread....

I agree with you. I also posted twice about how we should not play Indiana. Now I'm saying it a third time. They don't deserve to play us. It does nothing for our team and does a lot for them.

I've always thought, with UK as "the state of Kentucky school", not just a school in Lexington, that UK should rotate playing WKU, EKU, Morehead and Murray St. We have often played the last 2, maybe once every 10 years played WKU, and I don't ever remember playing Murray St. And sell 500-1000 of those tickets to those schools (many of which will still be bought by UK fans in those local areas).
I wouldn't be opposed to a game vs border schools as well (Marshall, Evansville, Xavier, Cincy, MTSU, St. Louis, Dayton, ect...).
I would like a home & home vs either Duke, UNC or KU (2 of the 3 we have had), maybe have 2 of them going if not have Champions classic.
Champions classic should replace Michigan St with UConn.
I guess keep Lil' Brother on the schedule.

So:
Champions Classic (CC) with Duke, KU & UConn
Home&home w/ Duke (except the years we play them in the CC)
Home&home w/ UNC
Kansas in the years that we play Duke in the CC
Home&home w/ UL
Home&home w/ IU
Home vs KY schools rotating
Home vs regional schools
holiday tournament
then 3-4 mid-majors, but not the bottom 50 or even bottom 100, more like teams in the 150-250 range.

Has UK ever played at Cameron Indoor?

Has Duke ever played us at RUPP? Both highly unlikely and it’s a shame.

I was wondering the same thing, and I think that the matchups have always been post season and more recently the Champions Classic.

It is wild and almost a crime that the two haven't had a home and home series.

K was pretty anti big home and home series, I think. We all know Cal wasn't much better in his early season scheduling philosophy. He'd rather play all around the country and world than play a decent program in Rupp or at their place.

We got to get the word out and make it happen. Duke in Rupp and UK in Cameron would be mega events. The game day atmosphere and would be insane.
