on here when Pope inevitably gets his first loss.
Will it be forgiveness and mercy or will we blame him/players and go full crazy on him?

I think we go completely nuts, we can't help ourselves.
I really hope we can just keep civil, I include myself because I HATE TO LOSE!

If we play well, with effort, and the shots just aren’t falling, then oh well. It happens. You can’t win every game. If we decide to abandon playing offense and pass the ball for the entire shot clock then I’ll be upset. I don’t think that will happen.

I certainly don’t expect I will react that way. I still think it is a greater than coin flip possibility we lose to the Zags in Seattle and frankly we do not know how this team will play in true road games yet. We are rightfully very excited but I’m still aware this is the new age of college basketball with significant parity across the sport.

I think it'll depend on how we lose (there's going to be overreacting for sure) but nobody goes undefeated anymore, we will lose games but HOW do we lose them. Sometimes it's the other team's night. Pope has us where we want to be, where we should be. That's you don't want to see UK on your schedule

They'll be at least 2 threads during the game that Pope was the last resort and Barnhardt failed to get a big name, and then days of the same thing repeated at nauseum. It's what message boards are for.

We're going to lose a game eventually. Hopefully not for a while, but it will happen. Depending on who it happens against will depend on how many people are ready to say "Farr Pope"!

If it's Gonzaga, you just shrug your shoulders and say, "Okay. We'll get the next one" and go on. If it's against WKU or Louisville, you will have quite a few more ready to toss him on the fire.

The Cal fans will be out more. I think we'll mull over Pope's post-game analysis and search for clues of what we should expect to see improve over the next ten games. There'll be comments on the team's lack of talent, though that will extend primarily from Cal folks, I think. So yeah, something like that.

Of course, it depends on whether our first loss is Gonzaga, Clemson, an SEC road game, or a nobody like Louisville or Georgia State.

No point in this question. Pope has the big blue nation fully under his wing. You cant name a potential better replacement that will not also have a loss at some time. Nobody..............

What are talking about? We’re going undefeated! 😎😎😎

We all know losses are inevitable. If the team isn’t hitting threes the inside game can’t carry us against a good opponent.

But just knowing that we have a Coaching staff that will look for adjustments in game and in future games is comforting.

The Duke win will give Pope a sh** ton of leeway...

This season for me was always a crap shoot to begin with. New coach and throwing together a top 15 team in a few months is just crazy work by Pope.

Like most coaches he will be judged in March and April. I don't for see a roster under Pope ever having a losing season like Cal provided this great program.

So all that said Pope would have to stop dropping games at an extremely alarming rate this year for me to be concerned and with this squad it isn't happening.

everybody loses. i think as long as pope doesn't get on the post show and talk down to us bennies he will be alright.
except maybe for the cal lunitic fringe may say something. fortunately they are becoming the minority.

Of course we are going to lose games....it is who we lose to and how. If we are raw dogged by a low level SEC team at home that is much different than losing to Gonzaga on the road. I just hope the days of letting one guy go crazy against us with no adjustments are over.

And yes, some will really blow their tops over it
As many have said…it depends on to whom, and how did we lose?
I am certain that our coach and our team give it everything they have every night
I’m also certain that our coach will take any responsibility for any losses and not blame his player, fans or Wednesday night church services

If we play "the right way", I can live with losses.

It's when we witness coaching malpractice and a boring style of play, then I struggle to deal with losses.
I think that’s most of us.
Well, at least the sane ones

So when are you playing again? Lol

Again, this post is uncalled for. If anyone believes Cal if he stayed at UK would have won the Duke game, then you don't need to follow College Basketball ever again.

The ones that are in hiding will come out and flame throw innuendos at those that are real fans and supported getting rid of cal and the hiring of coach Pope they are so predictable

We just look at the schedule and say "next". IMO, No one is going to do it better than Pope ... NO ONE. We are blessed to have him.

Depends on the loss. To Louisville by 50 points and it is a meltdown, at Gonzaga by 1 point at the buzzer, not that big a deal.

Rick Pitino's first team at UK went 14-14.
UK fans were thrilled. We knew what we had.

If there are ignorant Cal fans on here who go into attack mode and melt down at the first loss in the Pope era they just aren't smart enough to know what we have.

This is the negative crapola that Pope says has no place at KENTUCKY!

And guess what; Im of the same mindset!

Stop trolling!
I am no troll, I am just used to how our fans respond (usually poorly) after a loss. Some are reasonable but some can be a bit quick/unreasonable (myself included) when stock full of emotion.

These last several years have been rough, I remember the Tubby years in the end also.
Maybe we just go 40-0 and we don't have to find out.

I’d say it is a good things fans think we are gonna win every game. Alabama football fans are like that. I bet UConn women fans are too. It comes with being at the pinnacle. Everything will be ok if we lose a game

Now this is an intelligent post, I remember Pitino's first year and I remember thinking we have something in the making.

Pitino also won sec and national coach of the year bc of the dumpster fire he took over...we were thrilled bc our program was dead and we were banned from a post season. His roster would be the equivalent if we only had Perry, Noah, and Darbyshire basically. Unbelievable coaching job

If Pope finishes in the top 3 of the league this year as good as it is I don't see it out of a realm of possibility he would win SEC coach of the year
