Count me as one who fell out of love with Mitch Barnhart.... Probably won't ever be a big fan but he doesn't dictate my interactions with my team of choice nor will he be a big part in my ticket buying decisions... Don't know the guy, and don't know how he manages his business... All I know is what I see on the field and court and how our State is represented by the young men getting a free education to play sport.... This Vince Marrow thing is a positive step for UK... I'm happy for Stoops and MB for the success the retention of Marrow represents... UK needs success in every area and I hope that accumulated successes = wins... MB does get a lot of blame and maybe some isn't justified... I don't have a problem giving MB two thumbs up on the VM news.
Lee Todd has escaped criticism as well as a few that sit on a Board... While on the subject I'd like to point out that good things have happened (football wise) since Eli road into town... Mr. Capilouto I suspect should get some credit but there again I only know it's reported he likes football...
I'm not putting a whole lot into anyone playing a big role in Vince staying... I'll believe that the money was about as good here, he likes being on Stoops Staff, likes Lexington okay, and the timing just wasn't right, and maybe he'd like to reap the rewards of his efforts here and not start over again... Besides that he's from Ohio and not Michigan... Interviewing and remaining active in the job market is something most everyone does if they have hope for advancement.... He's a guy like all the rest of us trying to do what's best for his career. I'm happy that he's happy spending some more time with us... I sure wish I could dance as good as he does....... I never get tired of that GIF and would appreciate more dance videos from VM....
Excellent post, and the way I feel. UK lost millions of dollars from the fans bailing out JUSTIFIABLY from the non-support for ten years, I don't feel like he had any choice but to do what he has done recently. .
Sounds like we will never know what really happened, and who knows, maybe Stoops financial advisor told him the best investment he could ever make was to slip Marrow a couple hundred thou on the side, privately so other coaches wouldn't try the same thing, it definitely could make the difference in him getting a million dollar raise in a few years or getting fired. Not that he should have to give his money back when the University is the big winner here.
Pretty sure he is smart enough to have figured it out on his own and doubt if he did have to pay the money out of his pocket (Brooks did, and sounds like Harbaugh did also) but I sent him an email last night before the news broke, didn't spell out what I wanted to suggest but asked him to call me. Alas, guess he didn't need my help, LOL, maybe I will get a form reply in a few days saying he is extremely busy (and I'm sure he is) but will reply ASAP, like the NCAA did when I emailed them about the reasons Jarmon's suspension was way too harsh------still waiting on that reply also..
However it worked, just extremely glad that it worked.
