Note from JRow... Comments about Stoops going for the score during the game were about 50/50. Many mad, many not. After the fact, not as much anger. Just fans hyped up wanting their historic defensive numbers.

I want to give Kentucky a lot of credit
Arkansas came in two weeks ago and was immediately overwhelmed by the crowd and the setting. Kentucky- which hadn’t scored a TD against us since 2018 - wasn’t at all intimidated.
Kentucky:
* Had 3 penalties for 15 yards
* Didn’t turn the ball over
* Held the ball for 37 minutes
Arkansas is a better team than they showed 2 weeks ago (maybe not much better, though, based on how they’ve played since). Kentucky played hard and played smart, but they were just outmanned. There are no moral victories, but on some level there’s got to be pride in going out and giving #1 your best shot on the road. They deserve their ranking, and it’s a travesty if they drop more than a spot or two. That’s a 10-2 team at the worst depending on the Tennessee game. They probably are headed for a NY6 bowl, especially if they win out.
***
No doubt but they will beat Tenn at home esp since Tenn’s QB got hurt
***
Agree on Kentucky. They didn't have the talent to match up, but they were never intimidated. They had a smart a game plan, and they did their best. They're better than they've been in a while.
***
I agree they are by far the beat team we have played so far, but man they got away with holding all day. They might as well make holding legal.
***
Best team we have seen this year
***
They'll be favored in every game from here on out, but Tennessee definately has my attention. KY to a New Years Six bowl would be fantastic for them.
***
KY is average, just not a great matchup for UGA, KY has a big experienced OL that slowed our rush at times and is a pretty balanced team.
Game wasn’t in doubt once we scored 14 points, just a grind from there.
***
They definitely are well coached and did not seem intimidated. Their playing calling was impressive too. I thought Levis made some great throws and put the ball on the money almost every time but was let down by his receivers
***
They are a physical, disciplined football team. Their OC is more creative than many we’ve seen. They don’t have that many skill players. We were able to focus on Rodriguez, who I think is a quality RB, and Robinson, and limited them the whole game.
***
I think UK is a good football team, but they better be careful in Starkville in two weeks. A&M will agree.
***
While the 3 penalties for 15 makes your point, they should have had several calls for holding. I get that a lot of holding occurs that isn't called but when an interior DL is breaking through and literally gets wrapped up, the flag has to be thrown or the rule needs to be changed.
***
Holding on the perimeter on all those screen passes, missed face mask on our first drive, procedure penalty on their last drive.
Poor officiating yesterday
***
That’s a fair point but after the refs show you they’re not going to call holding, it doesn’t show a lack of discipline to keep holding
***
Stoops timeout...
The more I think about it, the more I understand the principle behind it. You play for 60 mins, so I get it. His guys trust and respect him more for allowing them to do it I believe.
Im glad we were challenged that late in the game (most starters) were still out there on that 11+ minute drive. They needed that to grow even more. I truly think it will make them stronger. This Dawg team excites me so much. It’s been a fun ride, a little over halfway through the year now, let’s enjoy it. Dawgs gotta take it a week at a time. Time to recover and get ready for a team that only cares about spoiling our season now!! Go Dawgs!!!
***
A true winner would have ran hurry up and try to comeback.
I hear you though. I think what he did was fine, but only losers don’t try and win.
So it looks like that makes him a loser.
I wonder if this moral victory makes Stoops feel better than Mullen against Alabama?
Both teams can add a banner to their stadium this season for a MNT (Moral National Title)
***
At that moment, he is paid to score for 60 minutes and our guys are paid to stop them and vice versa! Kirby said as much in his post game!
***
I'm not quite as mad about it as I was at the time.
However, there is a sportsmanship aspect to it that comes with conceding a loss after a certain point.
Not the same thing, but if you're talking about coaching to score for 60 minutes, then why would that not go for trying to score when your team is up big? Obviously, you don't want to do anything risky or whatnot, and want to drain clock, but every time a team throws the ball when they have a big lead late in the game, the opposing team/fans get all up in arms.
***
I respect Stoops for doing that for his team
***
I’m of the opinion the he respects Kirby and was helping to keep the intensity for that D all the way through. UK’s got a really good team and he’s also teaching them that they can compete. No problems with that one.
***
I have no problem with drive and trying to score obviously. The time out was pathetic and served as nothing more than a moral victory. Lost a lot of respect for Stoops, seems like some crap Mullen would pull.
The TO benefited nobody and only risked injury.
***
Never seen a group more butt hurt about a timeout….hell he wasn’t trying to run the score up!
***
(Stoops) was very complementary of Georgia throughout (postgame comments)
***
Woulda, coulda, shoulda and moral victories that’s what we have reduced teams to, keep it up boys I’m enjoying the ride.
***
At least they gave us credit unlike Auburn and their misfits.
***
I remember when Kentucky was an automatic (win)
Man they used to be flat out awful. But not anymore. They will be the most physical team we play in the regular season and their QB is quite good. I think they finish 11-1 . I don’t know how they keep Stoops too much longer. If I were the AD at LSU he would be my #1 candidate.
***
Think the new OC lit a fire too.
***
(From earlier in week)
KY's Stoops is hard to dislike
Early on he was the least heralded of the Stoops family coaches. Not a pretty boy. Not slim & trim. Not a song & dance man (media darling). Of all the other SEC football HC’s, he’s the least unlikeable for me. Real deal. Genuine. Straight shooter.
However, here’s hoping our Dawgs dominate his shiny blue upstarts on both side’s of the ball for the entire 60 minutes of game clock time.
More good news for us is that our schedule is much tougher than preseason pundits imagined, thanks in large part to teams & coaches like Arky, KY, Stoops & Pitman. (And Heufel & UTK around the corner).
Magical year. Well earned year in the making. Gotta love every thing about it! Go! Dawgs!!
***
Stoops has done an awesome job there. He’s turned a football backwater into a legitimate SEC power. And his recruiting is starting to show it; about as many 4*s as 3*s in this class. Honestly, it’s a credit to the UK admin that they gave him the time, money and commitment to building up the facilities that they did.
***
He is just an old fashioned ball coach.
***
He is an outstanding coach!
***
He actually had a plan that was brilliant in its simplicity… Instead of trying to pick through the leftover recruits in Florida and the Southeast, he realized that he could sell the SEC to recruits from the North/Midwest.
As a result, Kentucky has been helped greatly by recruiting Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Those states have historically valued college football and he’s been successful selling the SEC and its benefits. It makes total sense geographically and it seems so obvious now that he’s taking advantage of that philosophy.
***
after that last time out I do dislike him. totally a BS move....I hope we hang 70 on him next year.
***
KY QB Levis...What happened at PSU?
This guy can play qb. Who beat him out at PSU? Franklin mistake?
***
He could never make up his mind whether he wanted to be a leader or a legend.
(I laughed - JRow)
***
Maybe they didn’t throw screen passes?
***
I thought he played well too. He was directly responsible for those two scores.........w/o his poised presence those td's aren't happening. I had no idea he threw the ball 42 times.
***
Agreed. He’s going to give the SEC fits the next couple of years if he stays on the trajectory he appears to be on.
***
he has played the two best games of his life the last two weeks, he is kind of in a zone right now, Probably not the same player at PSU, I don't think he played well against UF
***
Kentucky is not going to lose another game this season
They are going to finish 11-1. Incredibly impressed with their play, intensity, and coaching. Will end the regular season a top 10 team and be considered our strongest regular season win.
***
They are overrated
***
Who do you think will beat them?
***
That was a solid football team on both sides of the ball and well coached.
***
They are a very solid team but not great at anything. They have a chance to win out because they have a very manageable schedule but a loss to a team like Tenn or MSST also wouldn't shock me.
***
they will kill miss st and beat tenn
***
The most impressive thing to me about Kentucky is that they were the first team since Clemson that never seemed intimidated. They know they have much less talent than Georgia, but they didn't flinch.
***
UK typically shats the bed a couple of times per year. This team seems to have better leadership and focus.
We'll see.
