What is this "Time out" that Mark Pope called with the game on the line?

Mark Few somewhere right now "that was not supposed to happen when I signed the 6 year game contract , they were supposed to have Cal and be easy to game plan against"

Mark Pope called a timeout not once, but TWICE during crucial moments. I'm pretty sure that's not even allowed. I haven't seen that since Tubby Smith. I hope the program doesn't get fined.
That's why he and the staff are there during those crucial moments when you can and should look a 22-year old kid in the eye and tell him how to win the game. He did, and they did. How refreshing! No more Calipari ego to deal with. By golly, we do have a coach.

I was a tad bit worried that we might struggle to get the ball in and not have the timeout to fall back on. I was surprised Gonzaga didn't make it harder to inbound than they did.

Some say its hard to rebound in a zone defense but if other team is getting layups they want be any rebounds to get either

It would have done Cal no good to call a time out, what would Cal actually do during a time out, yell go make a play.
100%.

Cal didn't call them because he didn't know what to do during them. It's funny. We've all seen that clip of Pope telling the guys Flagg is going to spin, go take it with 2 hands--and then that's how we won a huge game vs Duke.

We've also all seen those clips of Calipari in timeouts: "Isn't this fun?! This is what you come to Kentucky for, big minutes like this. Go out there and play with energy and joy." Like, what in the actual f$%K?

Called the perfect play to win it in regulation, Oweh just under threw that oop by about two feet!

We all should remember the 1-3-1 Zone Defense. I definitely remember it well in 2010 and Cal was as flustered as Gonzaga was last night!!

Yeah. Sadly, WVU played that as their primary defense and everyone knew it. Cal just didn’t prepare for it. Assumed his kids could win on raw talent.

**in my best Basketball Bennie voice **

"I don't like calling timeouts unless something happens.... you know, to dictate me doing that..."

Roy Williams use to do the same thing to UNC fans consternation.

It’s a coaching thing. Some people are set in their ways. Sometimes it works and you look like a genius. Other times it does not.

I firmly believe that Jim Boheiem most definitely cost himself another title by being married to the 2-3.

I thought for sure they’d outlawed that back in 2009 and was sure we were going to get a technical
