What Is This Team Missing?

Depth in the post. Foul trouble with the bigs in the NCAA tournament will sink us faster than an iceberg.

We need more Jorts and less of this guy in the post.

Actually, its been Cal's offense, aside from Boogie and Karl Towns, that the entire offense every year: guards dribble, beat your man, lob if post defender comes up, if not shoot floater, rinse and repeat. And its the same if its zone. No good ball movement unless the three guards are involved.
You named the two guys we've had who were good offensive players and passers. Most of the other bigs that have come through here had no business doing anything offensively other than put backs and lobs. Even Randle wasn't a particularly great passer so the ball would stop moving when given to him.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this team could use a tough interior presence...offense and defense.

Or how about some out of shape 49 yr old dude that hangs out on a message board and knows a shitload more than Cal...:grimace:

Dakari Johnson...that simple...

we are missing a big strong body in the front court...on both sides of the floor...

Offensively we have no real offense...just a couple of guards that can go off...have no half court ability...no threat to establish inside...no body to feed and work in the post if the guards aren't feeling it or are being guarded really tough....

defensively we have no body to consistently and effectively limit opponents second chance points...which can lead to momentum and point swings...instead of lee, skal, willis, and AP when he is feeling motivated fighting/struggling hard for a defensive rebound...DJ could throw some weight, clear some room, and get the ball moving up court a lot quicker which puts us in a better position to score quicker before the defense gets set...

time will tell what his NBA career will be...but if there ever was a guy that could have come back and really improved his game as well as stock, it is DJ...could have easily sky rocketed into the first round...not a lot of elite centers...you got a kid from Utah, Vandy, and Zimmerman in the first 20 maybe according to mock drafts...I think with a good year DJ could have easily improved his stock to the 18-30 range...
