What is Plan B if Lowe surprises everyone?

Jasper Johnson at point guard and hope it isn't too late to scrounge for another in the portal
OK. Lets look at it for a money situation only first. He is not invited to the draft camp stuff, he is no where to be found in the top 80 or so. Lets say he goes, he is going to make 50k in G league. He is going to make 500k over seas. He is going to make per reports that we have seen around 2 to 2.5 mil at UK.
Say he is stupid and says, dont care, do not want to make 2 plus mil next year with other opportunities to make my own NIL as well.
We have Jasper, Chandler and Aberdeen. Is it Ideal. No. I would say since Pope is out there still looking for a player or two, he would ratchet up what he is looking for and bring in someone more than a project that could be PG1.
Now if this is just a thread to worry about something. Then say Pope loses his mind and does not sign anyone else, then Aberdeen on his way to UK has a wreck and no longer can play basketball, Chandler screwed up his 2 year mission and he has to go back for another 2 years. Johnson decides to go overseas instead of coming to UK cause he cannot handle trying to live up to the family name, Oweh decides to sign as an LB for the football team and forgo any basketball. Williams gets to campus and hates it here and heads back to Tulane, JQ has to have his leg amputated due to horrible surgery gone wrong after 4 months. Garrison has to go home to become a stay at home father so the mother of his baby can go to work at the local grocery store. Jelvic decides to stay in Croatia, All of the assistant coaches leave. An earthquake swallows up the whole of downtown Lexington including all of the UK campus.
Then we have something to worry about. I would say we would not be ranked to start the season at that point.

Not worried. Bound to be a few PGs come back from testing the draft waters. Pope would reel a good one in as a replacement. Same goes for Oweh, if he decides to stay. A lot of money gets freed up to buy someone else. If we are tossing money around like everyone thinks, we need not worry.
Jasper and Aberdeen are more than capable as the PG options.
There could always be another guy withdraw from the draft... Boogie Fland could even be an option, ha

He wouldn’t be drafted if there were 3 rounds. He’s coming back.

I can't understand that decision if correct. Why would he receive such a payment, when supposedly Pope was so frugal when
offering other players. Watched Pitt play a couple of times this past year, and don't remember him standing out, even on a bad team.
He was only their leading scorer, so he was easy to miss. LOL!

Last year we were hamstrung with lack of a viable pg or a back up. We added 1 (Lowe) and lost 2 1/2 (Lewis,Krissa,Perry) . Maybe Aberdeen is a legit pg or maybe Jasper is Wallace or Fears 2.0? I don't know. I know we only got 1 actual pg in Lowe and he is testing NBA (he won't go ) he's injured were back to zero pgs on roster.
Pope knows the team alot better than me so I guess he has a plan but to me looking in from outside its a head scratcher how we didn't at least make sure we had 2 legit pgs. Lewis apparently left thi king Jasper would cut into his pg minutes I hope that worry ends up justified.

Not a direct dig at the OP or anyone else in general, but what’s up with all the negative leaning post and threads that continue to pop up on this forum?

We really just need someone to bring the ball up the floor. In Pope’s offense, many of the set plays are run through a big. We went about half the year last year with Amari bringing the ball up the court.
Aberdeen can play PG. Johnson can play PG. Chandler can play PG in emergency situations.
If Pope was worried, he would be trying to add another PG.
No one really knows the exact amount, nor should they. Reason to make sports private LLC is so they do not have to report it. If they are public university employees then that could become a problem with players envy.
If UK was underpaying for his service, the leading scorer on a sweet 16 team, then he would have entered the portal along with putting his name in the draft (like tons of others have). People are extrapolating $$ figures based on what people are reporting others are getting. Educated guesses.
But my point on that ridiculous post I made was we are all worrying about stuff beyond our control. Lets say Oweh plays in the combine and blows an ACL. Now he is doing neither for the 25-26 season. Too many things that we can worry about for no good reason.
Lowe, I like you have watched games or highlights of last year for the guy. He had teams not unlike UK over the last several years of CAL ball, that stood around watching a guy dribble, penetrate (over penetrate) and force up shots. You cannot fault the kid if that the offense. Unless you are Kobe, MJ, SGA type of talent you will fail in said offense.
If Pope sees something in the guys (and he was 3rd team all ACC) then I will trust the process.
We have many guys that can bring the ball up the court. Lowe, Oweh, Aberdeen, Jelavic, Mo, Chandler, Noah, Johnson, Garrison and so forth. Hope we get a guy that can make thing happen on tough possessions, a guy that will not turn the ball over. And a guy that will be great on defense. That is what will have to be seen early on next this fall.
No need to speculate. He'll get drafted in the same position Oweh does.
I don't think anyone really knows how much these guys are getting paid.
Personally I think it's a bit of Cal PTSD and just simply not understanding the landscape of college hoops currently.
On one hand, the board will trash Travis Perry for going to Ole Miss for equal or more money and the opportunity for more playing time. The same people will then "worry" themselves over Oweh or Lowe staying in the the draft. Neither are on any boards (that anyone can link) and each would be lucky to make 1/4 of what they're set to make at UK in some gorgeous region of Turkey.
Did not see my question as a negative at all. Was looking for constructive posts to reassure me if the worst case scenario happens, it won't be so bad. Many people did so. See no reason to find fault with any of that.
Could not agree more. Because the future looks bright for us the uk fan posers try to find different ways to dig at us or rile us up. There are a few that are simply eeyore types and the only joy regarding uk will be the day after we win our next national title. Then they'll revert to their default mode again.
Intuition here I really think Mark would be going hard after the 6ft6 usc transfer if he felt jalen was not going to play for us next year
