Alright, feeling quite a bit better today but not 100%. Good enough to comb through a whole bunch of comments for some you might be interested in. The view from the other sideline ...

*****

Damn, Levis is a baller.

*****

Levis is a tough QB

*****

If we had Levis, we would be in the playoff.

*****

We've been beating the crap out of Levis all day...he's tough

*****

Someone let ESPN know that Levis is not a 1st or 2nd round pick.

*****

This Will Levis is one tough QB. Hawkeyes were his second choice and first team to offer.

*****

Big time receivers must lick their chops going after Iowa. Wandale given acres.

*****

Other than Wandale being his usual douchey self, I thought the Kentucky players were great, your RB is special. Great game.

*****

Why was Moss sucked so far in when in 3 deep in that long pass to Wandale? A senior first team all American doesn’t make that mistake

*****

Kentucky earned it….that happens. I really am not happy for Wandale at all. I think Kentucky won it more than Iowa lost it.

*****

In response to Wan'Dale quote tweeting my Moss video tweet with "hahahah"

*****

I'd call it poet justice.

*****

Maybe he was saying Robinson hadn't been to be a bowl game...we know that we was true.

*****

When Iowa didn't go for it on 4th, I had a bad feeling Robinson was going to step up. He's a great player, a Rondale Moore type, which Iowa rarely has an answer for.

*****

Wan dale is lucky he transferred. It was his only chance to beat Iowa.

*****

Riley Moss wasn't the only player or member of the media, meh on Iowa's opponent from the standpoint of Kentucky.

Iowa has won two division titles. Kentucky hasn't to my memory, but UK and Mark Stoops are trending upward.

Hopefully, in honor of Nile Kinnick and no other Iowa season, the 24th season under one head coach will be fantastic at Kinnick.

Time and roster will tell, but Iowa has some talent in 2022. But, quarterback play cost Iowa a better season, in a season Wisconsin was expected to be #1.

Minnesota is hoping to right ship against Iowa for the first time, since 2014.

*****

Robinson beat Moss all day long. Moss tackled terribly. Sometimes to the victors go the spoils.

*****

Iowa needs a back like Rodriguez

*****

I want to know how many yards after contact Rodriguez typically has. That kid is a beast running the football.

*****

Kentucky has a shit ton of fans

*****

Just leaving the stadium...
But It we don’t have a QB who can lead us to championship level. Lots of open guys. The line played great. But how many misses can a guy have before you yank him. He has some wide open guys and missed them by a lot.
Actually the play calling was good this game we need to get a guy who is a difference maker.

*****

Well there is reason cant get better guys to come to iowa

*****

Pretty sad, have a Championship level D and ST’s. Find a QB and who knows what happens. And its not like we didnt know what we were getting at QB

*****

yes but what championship are you talking about? BIG West?

*****

The biggest positive from this game is that Linderbaum came back after injury. It would have been terrible if he played out of love for the program and then got badly hurt in the bowl game and hurt his draft status. When he grabbed his lower leg I was hoping it wasn’t serious like an Achilles’ tendon.
also both lines played well and showed improvement from the last few games. Most are back next year. Lines should be solid.
*****

Watching all these SEC teams the thing that really stood out to me was the size and sheer upper body mass of those linemen Momma must be feeding the boys pretty well

*****

It was a good game. We felt we had the momentum in the 2nd half and should have put the game away. We did not and you guys won. Congrats and best of luck moving forward as well.

*****

Our young DT's looked really small...and it showed on some of the running plays, but second half you could see them slowing down in that heat.

*****

I try to limit negative comments about players to their play and nothing personal, but the reality is that when you sign up to play high major ball, you accept the glory that comes along with great success as well as the criticism that comes along with failure. It is up to the coaching staff to put a player who will best give the team the opportunity to succeed in a starting role. He was bad, but I do think that player today was Petras at QB. It wasn’t enough. Now the staff has an entire offseason to figure the position out. There’s no excuse for the QB position to hamper Iowa’s offense two years in a row

*****

20 points is not some insurmountable total. The defense did more than enough to win this one.

*****

Agree. They did, however, give up a TD drive after the offense had taken the lead. They share the fail today.

*****

Except give up a 80 yard drive with 3 minutes left

*****

They didn’t carry but we need to be able to score more than 20 points in a game. When you think about Bruce’s drop that would have set us up with 4th and short near the goal line, the fumbled QB sneak, the poor clock/field management before the end of the half, missed open passes downfield (I remember 3), the decision not to sneak it on third and short the play Linderbaum got injured, and the three interceptions. It’s tough to place the preponderance of the blame on the defense, imo

Of course everybody could have been better. Taylor could downed a couple of punts inside the 20 versus touchbacks. Koerner could have gone to help (and probably gotten a pick) on the 3rd and 26 conversion. Campbell and VanValkenburg could have made a couple of critical tackles. I just don’t see any of those meaning more than the points we left on the board… largely as a result of QB play

*****

I'd have never guessed Iowa had 384 yards of offense today. I've always been of the belief every 100 yards should be worth a touchdown. The killer was not converting the 4th and 1 at their 11 early in the 3rd quarter.

*****

Truly hope that Labas gets a shot and he's the answer to move Iowa forward on offense. I waited till the game was over to post because, I know full well to expect the total scorched earth full melt down when the Hawks are behind. Sucks to lose close to a good Kentucky team that played hard. I agree totally in the announcers comment that these two teams came to play and wanted to win. Shocking right considering the number of people here who posted how these games DON'T matter and players should opt out because no one cares right? By the way cudo's to Lindy and Belton and the other guys injured who cared enough to come back in to "this game that didn't matter". Which brings up my question Hawk fans. Look back at all the posts this last week, about the game doesn't matter, and we suck, and all the predictions that we'd get blown out etc... etc... etc... And YET when opening this thread its the BIGGEST in game thread I've ever seen here. SIXTY SEVEN pages and counting? REALLY? WHY? I mean, we suck right? We're going to get embarressed right? This game doesn't matter at all right? So WHY? Why does it matter enough to be losing your shit over?
I'll just say I think the guys played hard, and didn't quit. Good for them, and looking forward to being a fan of Iowa football in 2022.......

*****

Missed tackles killed us on Kentucky's final drive.

*****

Good win for Kentucky. I was pleased to see there were no scuffles, excessive trash-talking, dirty plays, etc.

Even though the Hawks lost, it was still an enjoyable game to watch.

*****

The coaches are doing a disservice to the team, the fans, and even to Petras himself by continuing to trot him out there.

*****

Yes. Ferentz is 1-3 vs. the Stoops boys.

*****

Kentucky offense is ranked 40th. Man, we can only dream of an offense that good.

*****

BONUS: Nebraska ....

101 catches so far on the season - trying to will his team to victory. Catch #101 was insane! what’s a STUD! GBR make that 102

*****

Wandale is outstanding.

*****

I miss Wandale

*****

Get it to WANDALE

*****

Wandale gonna win this

*****

Wandale is a warrior

*****

wandale wouldn’t start at osu

*****

Wandale beating Iowa.....how poetic

*****

Wandale goes to KY and becomes a legit AA candidate. Have been SMDH all year long. Just goes to show what a cluster F the last four years has been.

Being the start of 2022, I said I would allow myself one new bitch between now and the start of next season. Now that it’s out of the way…..

*****

He was a freshman AA at NU

*****

Then what happened?

*****

Wan’Dale highlights what has been wrong with our offense. We screwed it up and probably would have again this year if he had stayed.

*****

90% of the offensive staff are gone and Wandale is playing in a bowl game on a ranked team.

*****

Coen is the difference and the announcer has said many times he’s a protégé of Whipple. So, let’s hope for better things going forward.

*****

A lot of people here said he wasn’t that good, he’s to small, and he’s not that fast it won’t hurt us… Well he’s pretty damn good and did it in the SEC vs the best talent and pretty good defenses on team by the name of Kentucky not Alabama, Georgia or Clemson. His worst game Georgia 12-39 yards receiving. Second worst game LSU 8-60.

*****

Wandale has a better QB that fits him at Kentucky. It's that simple. Put AM at Kentucky, he doesn't have 90+ catches and he'd have 10-15 wide open "Where the hell is that pass going?" misses.

*****

I thought Robinson had some nice grabs in the first half.

I mean, for a guy with such a small catch radius.

*****

Good for Wandale. Best decision he ever made was jumping off the Frost sinking ship.

*****

Imagine how good Nebraska would be if we could recruit talent like that…
