NIL situation is just one factor in UK's lagging recruiting? What if the new coaches just aren't very good recruiters? Seems that would compound the problem.

Bingo!!
Losing Jon Sumrall killed our recruiting down South and losing the DB coach to Michigan took probably our bestrecruiter/developer/coach.
Losing Schlarman......you see all of the above in the OLine play, recruiting, development, coaching. Lost it all.

CMS has got to get his staff fixed starting with strong recruiters.

It is not all NIL.

I think there isn't much pt to go around. We are stacked on D. Tons of wr and te. Good volume of OL (talent is another question). We really only have some opportunities at RB and QB and I think it's all but certain we'll hit the portal for a QB.

Just not alot of opportunity or path to even somewhat early pt.

That said I think there is probably some truth to a bit of falloff. Yenser never recruited and wohlford was an ace. Coen didn't really recruit on the road but you just know that dude was an amazing closer. Scang just isn't nearly as charismatic but has way more connections and won't be facing all the questions about not being there after this year

3 negative factors:
1) poor NIL opportunities
2)new assistant coaches nowhere near as good recruiters as previous
3)poor year of talent in our base of Kentucky/Ohio

Scang only has a 2 year deal, so the questions about not being here ( if he survives this season's debacle) will actually be more in play next year.

I'm sure NIL doesn't help. But I think what the staff has lost and the new coaches isa big deal. And we know the the staff like to scapegoat. "Oh, our line is bad because the guy last year. Not our fault." Plus, they know the ksr boys will parrot the excuses for them.

We’ve had a ton of turnover over the last 3 years. Like Bama level turnover. It’s very hard to overcome especially when you’re Kentucky and still trying to climb the mountain.

That's a risk you take hiring from the NFL. Monken, our OC, came from the NFL and isn't much of a recruiter, he picks out our QB target, a couple WR and that's it. Right now our best recruiter is our TE coach he hasn't missed on a TE target since he arrive.
