What happened to the kicker from Boyle Co.??? Wasn’t he supposed to be the #1 kicker coming out of HS??

Thought I read something from last season that said he moved to punter, which I was surprised by because Wilson Berry is a young punter.

Wilson Berry isn't young. He'll be 24 and already had a 3 year professional career in Australia Football. Also has a kid, and missed his first season at UK with a back issue.

It has been reported that he is having trouble kicking without a tee, which is permissible in HS, but not in college on FG/XP.

My nephew kicked his senior season without a tee to prepare for college.

He also told me that when he was on his visit to UK for the Vandy game last season he watched Smith struggle mightily during pre game. And I think he said he was using a tee then too. Granted the weather was three kinds of awful which didn’t help matters, but Kellan wasn’t impressed.

Max Duffy was like 26 or 27 when he left UK. I think Berry will be a Soph this year so he should be around for at least two more years.

Maybe this is why some coaches are hesitant to offer scholarships to HS kickers? It's hard to determine if they will be able to make the transition more than other positions and they can't play scout team and help the starters while they were developing.
