Some of the threads I've read have based the entire season on the 1st half of the first game, others - the second half. So, how do you think we end up?

I was going with ten and two and wanting to bet on every game. Thought we had turned the corner .
Now after, the dose of reality and forgetting the blue Koolade I have over indulged in every year for the past forty years I am tempered by reality. Five wins. No more bets on UK this season.

Either they get tired due to lack of depth or don't have a killer instinct . Either way I don't like to bet teams that squander leads like we did. Hopefully the three coming back will make a difference. But I think it will take more than three players to solve our teams problems. Other than number 90 I don't see the line stopping the run or putting heat on opposing QB . Teams with run pass QB 's will run us ragged. Unfortunately we will now face one the last game of the season.
Hate to be a downer . Still think Stoops is the answer . But we need many more quality recruits to play at the level we all want. It truly is a numbers game in college football. We're about two thirds of the way there.

Have always thought 6-6/7-5. IMO, we have to win one of these next 2 games to have a chance at a decent season.

As long as we count on Towles, or evidently any of our other qbs, to carry the team I think 5 games will be it. We have a scatter gun arm trying to use the pass to move the chains. I'd have to guess the others are no better.

The only explanation is the staff knows the ol cannot run block. In that case 5 may be a stretch. If we can put a leash on the passing I'd say 6 and 7 at the very, very most.

I am sticking with 8-4

We won. We beat a good team. We scored so fast our d was on the field too much. We have more talent than other teams now. We can win 8.

4/5 wins
So, far they look like the same team that lost the last 6 games

D-Line can't stop the run, can't put pressure on the QB

O-Line can't run block, did a descent job pass blocking.

L-backers poor play

D-backs bright spot of the defense

QB hit and miss, inconsistent, can't read the field.

As for Dline I do think number 90 is the real deal . He just needs more help. Elam is better than last year but still needs more work both on technique and body . Really lose a lot when big Melvin goes out.

dropped from 7-5 to either 5-7 or 6-6. I still have to think we'll make some adjustments and pull a game out of our butts, but play looks like it will really limit our sucess this year.

5-6 wins based on what I saw. No pass rush. Run blocking was not very good. QB very inconsistent. Run defense was just awful. SEC teams would have beaten them by 2-3 touchdowns.

Very disappointed overall. I will say that I have the utmost confidence in Stoops and his staff. I do expect of these areas to improve, but just going by the first game, a lot to be concerned about.

Cawood, I was going to like your post, but there's nothing to like about it. Unfortunatly, I agree with your points 100%. Seems like it may be another long season.

Ohio State LOST to a horrible vt team last year the first game and still won it all!! We did WIN the game against a very good team!
Im actually glad we had a close call early, it will get the players attention. We still rolling to 10 wins..the only opponent i have seen this year that cancompete with us is Georgia.

You make outlandish predictions all the time and you also post on the U of L boards. I think you are a Louisville fan.

I predicted 4-8 before the season started but now I think it might be as good as 5-7. I am at least hopeful that even though there were a lot of negative things that came out of that first win, there are some positive things also. I am hoping their are enough positives to bring that one extra win.

Well I think a lot of fan cards needs to be pulled between the early leaving and then having the gall to criticize Coach Stoops decisions.
I am a REAL UK FOOTBALL FAN...im beginning to think there are as not many of us as thought.

I want you to explain to all of us how 10-2 is going to happen. Give us some facts, and logic behind that prediction please. Dont just throw it out randomly.

Im sticking with 6-6. We are going to outscore enough teams to get to a bowl game, but barely. I'm sticking with 2 more OOC cupcakes, Vandy, FL and UL as my 6 wins.

We lose 2 and win 10...

But in all seriousness I just said 10-2 because apparently it ruins the lives of millions of Americans and throws the program down the drain.

Oh ok, so you do not really believe that then. That's good, I thought you were actually pretty knowledgable about football so I was like "What." Sorry I gave you grief in the other thread, I could see 10-2 in 2017.

I thought 7-5 before the year and now I think 4-8 or possibly 5-7. The defense is just beyond terrible and I don't think it's fixable right now. Towles concerns me but thinking about watching this team try and stop an SEC team from pounding the ball is enough to make you sick.

Its all good my man!

5-7

- 3 cupcakes and Vandy gets us to 4 wins. I think we find a way to get another SEC win vs. UF, Mizzou, USC, UL, Miss St and maybe UT...highly doubtful.
- If UK can't at least split the next 2 games vs. USC/UF...big trouble is brewing for this season.

I was going to be OK with 6-6 and a bowl game this year before the season started. I know it's just one game but it did point out a good many weaknesses so I'm thinking 4 or 5 wins might be closer to the truth, for many of the same reasons you just pointed out. I think we all went into this game with such high expectations and excitement and then it was sort of dashed by what we saw on the field Saturday night. Hope I'm way wrong and that we win more like 8 but that's just the way I'm feeling right now when the OP asked his question.

After watching that game Saturday night, it's hard to see any more than 6 wins, but as fans, we always overreact regardless of the result (if we had won 33-10, many on this board would be saying 9-3 is a lock). The complete inability to stop the run makes it hard for me to imagine us winning a bunch of games. I don't know how you fix that. I'm hoping the guys coming back will help, but it has to drive Stoops crazy given that he's a defensive coach.

I still believe we make a bowl. However, I think 8-4 may be a little too ambitious after seeing the first game. I want to believe though so I think we'll go 7-5 with a chance to go 8-4 if we win one we're not supposed to like the Auburn game on a Thursday night at Commonwealth.
