What do you miss?

Multiple mid major conference schools being really good.
Not just tourney Cinderella's. But during regular season. With All Americans and high draft picks.

Unlv. Western. VCU. Uncc. Temple. St Josephs. Memphis State. DePaul. Tulane. Marquette.

Theoretically, Louisville even.

I miss the days when it wasn't all about either getting a three point shot or getting to the rim.

The art of of working for the right mid-range shot ...and developing signature mid-range moves ...is largely lost from today's game. And a lot of former mid-range masters like Goose Givens would be considered of little worth by today's analytics.

The intros where the players alternated from each team and shook hands at mid court.

No 3pt line. No shot clock.
Mears and Smith kind of made the shot clock necessary. Goodness, I hated that 4 corner crap they played. I remember a UK / Cincinnati game in 70s where the score was like 25- 16 or something. I miss some of the old arenas, Stokley , Memorial, the old Barnhill Arena

When Rupp wasn't full of a bunch of blue hairs that just want to sit on their ass and be quiet as a church mouse. Was that ever a thing or am I just romanticizing the past?

Agree 💯

I miss:

1. Having Conference Alignment that made sense geographically

2. When The sport allowed the better team to beat the crap out of a lesser team and didn't have computers dictating the strength of a "loss" by less than 10 pts on the road, etc....

3. Not having to know what quadrant a game is defined by

4. Players just getting a made shot and inbounding the ball instead of some odd hot potato game with the refs

5. When coaches weren't on the floor or near midcourt all game

6. Double Dribbles being called instead of the drunken juggle sign every ref gives after a double dribble

7. When Clock Operators didn't screw up the clock. Think of any NBA/CBB game and think of one where it's not stopped to fix the clock in some capacity.

8. Days when coaches held more weight than "personal trainers" or "shooting coaches" who didn't know what they were doing. All good with guys who can help young players develop but frauds who are stealing $ and don't help a player improve because they are teaching moves that will not be used in a game or can't be used by a player who isn't talented enough to make a layup with his weak hand or FT's at a percentage that justifies turning their feet sideways at the FT line. When you are nervous/under pressure, never a good idea to have your body misaligned from a target. If you can make 80% above, fine but most of the off kilter shooters shoot less than 70% and it's even worse when game is on the line late.
