Surely there are examples of "just being able to do it" over "I can explain it to you with math how it should be done but I can't do it myself."

I don't know about all that. I do know when I was getting into pool back in the day that I probably watched The Hustler once a month. Fantastic movie and The Color of Money was even better. I was that close to buying a Balabushka around 1992. I haven't played pool in years. Probably couldn't two rail cross corner to save my life now. I miss playing.

I used to love to play, especially 9 ball. Got into pretty heavy for several years before life came along.

There used to be a really nice pool hall in Richmond, (may still be there, IDK, but the owner, Bobby Johnson, died years ago), that had a small kitchen with pretty good food, and soft drinks and coffee. No alcohol served or allowed on the premises.

Bobby would put on tournaments and would rank you from 1-9. I began as a 4, lol, but I'd never really played very much. If someone like myself was paired against a person ranked as a 9, then whomever reached their rank first won. If I won 4 games before he won 9, I was the winner, but that didn't happen very often. Those dudes were ranked a 9 for a reason, they're good.

I too miss playing.

I worked at a bowling alley in college. We had 4 pool tables across from the main desk. Several hustlers hang out there. I played one who was my friend one day. No $, just for fun as I was only mediocre. We played three games of bank everything eight ball. He let me break and I made 2 shots before I missed, which was great for me. It was the last shot I took in 3 games.

I never heard of this theory, I even searched online for it and found nothing.
If you could say what it is, as a Statistician and Mathematician I could probably then explain the math to you.

I actually just goggled it to make sure you weren't kidding you couldn't find it and it came up with a theory of him being the guy in The Hustler.
Let me give you one question. If you had to make a 3 rail bank shot in pool and then try to leave the cue ball set up for your next shot who would you want?
Neil DeGrasse Tyson-He can explain to you exactly where to hit the ball with the exact spin you need to do that. Knows how to do it
Minnesota Fats-Can't explain the physics but has the ability to do it.

I'm sure Neil is a nice guy but give me Minnesota Fats in his prime.
