What are you listening to?

20 year remaster of this seminal indie album. Can still remember the first time I heard the stunning opening track, and then hearing the driving bass of Ageless Beauty and being hooked. 20 years? Shew. Time is a fickle thing.

Something sweet for everyone's Sunday:

Hank Jones should be everyone's 3rd favorite piano player. Some virtuoso. Some crazed impassioned one. Then, when both of those are just too much, there's Hank Jones.

Currently bingeing THE most underrated classic rock band of all time, Robin Trower. I should say, bingeing for the thousandth time.

And the song I've listened to more than any other. I've never been sure why this is not considered in the lists of greatest classic rock songs....

TRS is a great song. I've seen Trower twice, great shows, but both only lasted an hour. He does not play long, unfortunately.

After the war, Django Reinhardt gravitated to the electric guitar. Fans of his work with The Quintet of the Hot Club of France usually disapprove, but Swing had had its day and Reinhardt wasn't done. This isn't Swing or Bebop or West Coast Cool. It's Django Reinhardt music. This is a fantastic collection. I hope someone here follows up and discovers it for themselves. And then, of course, goes back to Reinhardt's 30s music.

Elwood Francis lives in Lexington and ZZ TOP has a show with Status Quo in Germany on February 8th.

"... and now you're telling me you're having my baby ... I'll tell you that I'm happy, if you want me to"

I was not much of a fan of Wham, at all, but the groove and bottom end on this song is pretty damn infectious !!
