What are you listening to?

Unleashed in the East, Judas Priest.

This song is a remake of a Joan Baez song which is about her relationship with Bob Dylan.

Well, I'll be damned
Here comes your ghost again
But that's not unusual
It's just that the moon is full
And you happened to call
And here I sit
Hand on the telephone
Hearing a voice I'd known
A couple of light years ago
Heading straight for a fall
As I remember your eyes
Were bluer than robin's eggs
My poetry was lousy you said
Where are you calling from?
A booth in the midwest
Ten years ago
I bought you some cufflinks
You brought me something
We both know what memories can bring
They bring diamonds and rust
Well, you burst on the scene
Already a legend
The unwashed phenomenon
The original vagabond
You strayed into my arms
And there you stayed
Temporarily lost at sea
The Madonna was yours for free
Yes, the girl on the half-shell
Could keep you unharmed
Now I see you standing
With brown leaves falling all around
And snow in your hair
Now you're smiling out the window
Of that crummy hotel
Over Washington Square
Our breath comes out white clouds
Mingles and hangs in the air
Speaking strictly for me
We both could have died then and there
Now you're telling me
You're not nostalgic
Then give me another word for it
You who are so good with words
And at keeping things vague
'Cause I need some of that vagueness now
It's all come back too clearly
Yes, I loved you dearly
And if you're offering me diamonds and rust
I've already paid

The Avalanches are a fun band.. and it was used in one of the dopest skiers of all time's video. (Music video is 2nd if urban skiing isn't your thing).

Oh shit, another MTB fan? A true gateway to math rock, these guys were fantastic. I saw them live in a park.. 38 degrees and cold rain.. it was awful and amazing.

Awesome! I caught them live in Newport I believe back in 2006 when they were still touring for the Menos El Oso record. Those first few records are simply freaking amazing. It's some of my personal favorite music, well, ever. I wasn't as much into their late stuff but that band had an amazing run. I still keep coming back to them time and time again.

God damn.. HRP was such an awesome album. I had one of my best college buddies, and an old GF, show me that album at different times.

One of the funniest Post-rock memes I've ever seen was someone calling their late music "Minus the Drums" lol.

You a fan of other music in this vein? Like TTNG?

HFP is definitely my favorite from them, closely followed by MEO.

Math rock/midwest emo is definitely my favorite musical genre. I lean more to just midwest emo more than the really intensive math rock though. TTNG is definitely great stuff. Algernon Cadwallader I really dug. American Football, The Hotelier, Look Mexico, older stuff like Pinback and The Promise Ring. All of those are definitely filling out my Spotify playlists.

You got any favorites/any other suggestions?
