I was ready for Calipari to leave for multiple reasons.
One of the biggest was how over the last 7 years or so we had gotten the worst whistle in basketball. The UCONN flop title. Higgins. Wisconsin. It goes on and on.
My memories as a younger man was of special treatment as a blue blood school. Other fan bases called our home court Rape Arena. I could see we got the benefit of being a cash cow for the NCAA. The same way Alabama,and now Georgia benefit in football from their status.
Like I said, over the last 7 years or so that has changed. I can’t watch a game anymore without becoming angry about the officiating. It’s been constant.
My first reaction when it began was the officials hated how Cal constantly screamed at them. How do you explain Hurley good whistle then. UCONN has been gifted two titles with great calls down the stretch of important games. We have been Fu$caked in ours.
So if it wasn’t Cal, what do you believe it is????
My opinion….
Combination of two things.
One.
Mark Emmert despised UK and Cal for stealing Jones and Kanter from him while AD at Washington. He insisted an anti UK bias in the NCAA which still persists today. Why?? Because Emmert hired an incredible amount of UNC and Duke alums at headquarters.
Two.
Higgins. He made it to obvious in his games while trying to screw UK. As bad as the Flop was this week. That UCONN flop for a title was two times worse. He was standing one foot from it. When BBN lashed out it became personal to the officials. Not just a directive.
As a fan I’m not sure what to do. Keep watching what I know is fixed, or walk away from something I love.
Why does it have to be MY team that is Hated??
Just save your post if you are going to say I’m delusional and officiating is hard. No sane person can watch the last several years of our games and not believe there is an anti UK agenda. If you do. You’re in denial.
