Playing time last year was not an issue because we had no one. Our NIL was 100% for new comers. We have kids that are here taking a good amount of NIL to keep in Lexington. It is getting late and last years success has zero bearing on this year's portal success. Maybe last year we got lucky but we all know what this team really must have to compete in the SEC to get a decent seed in NCAAT. That need is a top tier point guard. Every team in the elite 8 this year had a great point guard. This is what we did not have and still do not have. We can cry, be patient all we want but if we end up without a top point guard, sweet 16 is again our ceiling.

Duke has a generational player like we did with AD. They barely beat bad teams without him when he missed. And they haven’t won it all yet. Houston, Florida and Auburn have teams full of guys who started out as 3-4 stars so maybe Duke is the outlier here.
You must be naive if you think the transfer rankings accurately describe which players are the best. Have a look back at last years rankings and how they performed this season and get back to me.

I think the overall fanbase is just restless because the last 5 years have been terrible. This year had some highs and lows but we all know injuries played a factor in the majority of the losses.
No, not at all. I’m saying that people shouldn’t get their panties in a wad whenever someone enters the portal ranked #X and we don’t get them. Of course we’re going to make a lot of contacts. That doesn’t mean those guys fit and should work out. Just like teams look for certain types of guys, these guys are looking for certain teams. It may be money, it may be style of play, location, or it may the role with the team. Of course you want talented guys, but you need talented guys who fit together. We were limited in what to look for last year with time. This year, we can actually built for multiple years. We don’t want to turn into a one and done of portal guys with no consistency. Just let the staff work and stop the hand wringing.
