West Coast Radio Host and Former Miami Footballer Says Cal reminds Him Of

We'd be past UCLA in titles had Cal got the job done every time. He blowed several final fours imo. Before the UK job and while here. I don't know how he can deal with all the losing he has done. Cal could have 6 or 7 rings in a perfect scenario right now.

interesting thing is both JJ and Cal changed recruiting during their tenures

Cal obviously the one year college player.........to top NBA draft pick etc.

JJ would recruit track stars and turn em into defensive backs, take defensive backs and get them in the weight room to play linebacker, and take linebackers and get em bulked up to play defensive line

he was all about speed............

Johnson only won once in college, and blew a couple where they should have won in 1986 and 1988. Sounds familiar...

Well, Vinny Testaverde threw 5 interceptions in the loss to Penn St.......Miami was obviously the better team

The Catholics vs Convicts game will ALWAYS go down as one of the most controversial ever in college football.

No as UM football fan JJ blew nothing . He is my favorite coach in college football history. JJ and Cal are very alike as they truly both were/are players first .

You can call it whatever. Miami lost to a team in the Fiesta Bowl who they were noticeably more talented than and who they dominated in every phase of the game but the scoreboard. Miami coached by Jimmy Johnson blew the 1986 title.

I hope you are kidding, otherwise there are a lot of unkind names you remind me of right now

Michael Irving always said Jimmy Johnson was the first black head coach at Miami. Jimmy grew up extremely poor and was able to relate to his players and their similar backgrounds.

As we saw with Cal in 30 for 30, he also grew up very poor and understands his players and the environments they grew up in.

At least he hasn't blowed a mental gasket, unlike yourself.

Lets see here. A guy bitching about Cal's performance and he thinks "blowed" is correct english. Ignorance is his friend or he'd never leave his house.

Cal pulled up on the reins during the Memphis/Kansas Championship game. Anyone watching the game could see he was trying to coast to a win. Then Memphis started missing freethrows, made it easier for Kansas to get back in it. Finally, at the end Memphis was just too tight to make the plays to win the game.
Same thing very nearly happened in 2012. Again, Cal tried to coast to the win vs. Kansas. Difference was Davis protecting the rim and MKG/Lamb hit some big shots.
2015 vs. Wisky I think it's pretty obvious Ulis should have gotten more minutes at the end. Play calling was horrible, we needed someone with some creativity on the court. Maybe his size would have been a liability, maybe not. He was one tough SOB.
Coasting for the win is something Cal definately needs to work on. Jimmy Johnson never gave anyone a break. While in Dallas he would try to embarrass opposing teams. He'd break their will then really go to work on them.

Cool comparison except we don't have guys getting arrested and all that but I like the fact that guys wanted to play for them and they were the villain to the other POS.

And I know it was trolling but there's only two times where a loss could be blamed on his coaching in the postseason; 2010 and 2015 (with terrible refs adding to it).

JJ's first of his two Superbowl wins over the Bills was a classic beatdown of epic proportions. I'd put those Dallas Cowboys teams of the 90s against ANY football team and I'm taking those Cowboys. Extremely talented and very dominant. Bring on the 85 Bears, Montana's 49ers, that badass defensive Ravens team, Favre's Packers, Eli's Giants, Brady's Patriots, Elway's Broncos, etc. Although, 1991 Redskins vs. 1992 or 93 Cowboys would be the best football game in history, in my opinion.

Speaking of NFL..thank God I'm not a Buffalo Bills fan..I don't see how any Bills fan would be over back to back to back to back Superbowl losses..even 20 something years later. How the hell does a team go 0-4 in 4 STRAIGHT Superbowls ?! Good Lord.

The Miami Hurricanes were the dirtiest & most corrupt college football team for 20 years starting with that 1983 bunch.

There's an old saying "You ain't cheating, you ain't trying.". Personally, I'm tired of UK playing by the rules, clean, and fair and getting F'ed for it in the end while UNC gets away with whatever the hell they want and then gets a Title gifted to them.

Only one year were they really the favorite: Super Bowl 25. Giants held the ball for over 40 minutes and limited the Bills to only 19 minutes and they still only lost by one with that Norwood kick.

The last Super Bowl against the Cowboys, they had actually beaten the Cowboys during the year and were leading at halftime and then fell apart in the second half.

The NFC was dominant though. They won every Super Bowl from 85-97. It was only when Elway's Broncos team won in 1998, that the AFC finally won one again.
