Wenyen(SlimReaper)Gabriel Cuts List to 5.

It's hard to see how Tatum doesn't effect Gabriel. Tatum and Giles will be a nasty frontcourt and will play the majority of minutes up front. No way Jeter is good enough to keep those 2 off the floor. That poor kid will soon figure out he picked the wrong school. Not talking ish. It's a problem every school wants to have every year. With Tatum and Gabriel playing same postiton, I can't see duke getting them both. If Giles decides to go elsewhere, I think dukes odds go way up with Gabriel, but what are the odds of that happening? Not very good. Most think Giles is a lock to duke. If Duke puts their expected class together, I'm hoping Cal is right and we get the guys we are on to make it 2 of the best classes of all time instead of just duke's being considered. We will find out I guess.

It's weird that K only had 8 scholarship players last year and won a title and now he is stockpiling players?

Giles, Tatum, Jackson, Gabriel, and Bolden are expected to go to Duke.

Thornton, Allen, Jones, Kennard, Jeter, and Obi are expected back.

How does he trim down to a 7-man rotation?

Maybe he expects some of those guys to leave after this year?

Or maybe some of the guys coming in this year aren't as good as advertised.

Duke isn't going to get all those players.

Coach K will have plenty of Creaning to do next summer if the do land most of their guys.

There's a lone bright side to all of this and that's Kennard will be buried on the bench after spurning Kentucky in favor of Duke for fear of being recruited over.

I don't blame the kid btw, it's the dumbass parents and handlers that should know better.

Like Duke doesn't recruit over kids every year.

The season hasn't even started, and you already know Duke's rotation? Kennard will get a chance to earn minutes early if he does well in practice. Matt Jones is a perfect example of the trajectory Kennard can expect to take. Bust your butt in practice and work your way up the rotation.

Cal is going to try to sell him on playing 3/4 in the frontcourt with Miles Bridges. Bridges would be an excellent complementary player to Gabriel and vice versa.

Gabriel would probably start at UK. He will not start at Duke if they add Giles and Bolden, and Giles and Tatum are elite talents that should be playing 38 mpg, so frontcourt minutes will be scarce. Jeter is already looking to be lost in the shuffle.

Choice is to come to UK, play one year and be a lottery pick, or go to Duke and either get drafted late in first round after first year based on potential, or stay a second year to move into lottery. It's really as simple as that.

Suspect he'll chose Duke regardless. Duke is bringing him in for their version of BBM, and I'm sure they'll have the nerd herd there out in force chanting his name.
you seem to have it all figured out.

Then get recruited over the next year?

Seriously, though, I think Kennard will be a major contributor by his Junior year. Not sure where he fits as a Freshman and Sophomore, though. Looks like he will sit the bench behind Allen and Jones his first two seasons.

Why is it that so often when Duke fans talk about their program, they routinely write in such a way that promotes the idea of some great type of system that follows something close to a scientific law that cannot be disrupted?

You wrote your statement while your coach is recruiting Gabriel to start over a senior-to-be in Matt Jones. That's a great trajectory to follow. Kennard has much to look forward to. Based on your comparison, he can probably expect to be recruited over in three out of four potential seasons as Duke.

Duke is killing it right now, K is getting whoever he wants right now. Heels cannot even get players in our back yard.

UNC is becoming UCLA. I look at this season as Roy's last shot at a title. After this year, he will never see the type of success he once enjoyed.
