Well, that was one stupid call by the Cowboys

If he slides 3 yards shorter or the ref doesn’t dick finger the ball it’s a good play.
1. The ref sprinted up to the ball to place it....(and that is the rule the officials have to place ball not the Center). So don't start with the ref stuff.
2. But again...that is the risk you take with the QB draw BS that you wont get to down it.

The cowboys were at the 40 and could take a shot at the endzone...what was running it up to the 25 going to make it that much easier of a throw? vs. the risk they took to never get a 2nd play off?

Yeah they should've just taken 2 shots from the 40 to win the game. I guess the logic was Dak can get 10 yards, give himself up with a slide then they clock it for 1 more play. The 49ers were finally guarding the sidelines so no one was getting out of bounds. That playcall is going to be debated for a while.

Dak should've slid sooner. But the middle of the field was WIDE open so he just saw green grass and kept running. I don't think they could've completed a pass in the middle and gotten another play off. Guess they figured Dak could get a few yards and give himself up. But 2 plays from the 40 is better than having 1 from the 30 so it was an odd call.

There was nothing good about that play, and it was clearly a spur of the moment decision by Dak. They had time for two throws to the end zone. He’ll be hearing about that decision for a long time.

That might have been the stoopidest call I've ever seen in the playoffs. I had just told the misses they can't throw the ball to the sideline again. That they had to throw it in the endzone two or three times with just .14 seconds left. Then the McCarthy brain cramp call.

Moore calls the plays.

Ref was slow getting there and placed it then picked it up and replaced it.
Keep saying that to make you feel good. The replay, focused on the back judge, shows him in dead sprint the moment Dak was down. Pushed thru center to place the ball and tried his best to get out of way.

It was not on the ref...it was 100% stupid Dak/McCarthy that did it.

I had no money on the game. I’m just stating what I saw. Ref was way slow but when you have old men out there it happens.

No way that was called by the sideline. That was all on Dak.
If so, then Dak is a moron. That play had zero chance of scoring and only slightly better chance of not running out the clock. Insanely bad play, whoever called it. If it was the OC, that's a firable offense in my book. I'd have him clean out his office tonight. A HS coach wouldn't make such a stupid mistake.

Good that Ed is maintaining his M.O. - start an argument in every thread even when you know you're wrong. Ignore is a godsend for that guy.

No. There are no what ifs. The OP is 100% right. It was 2nd down, not 4th. Thet ball HAD to go toward the end zone and they had time to do it rwice. Coaches and Dak made a stupid decision om the QB draw.

Agree. Plenty of time for two shots to the end zone. Run a play with your best receiver on the first, and everyone in the end zone for a hail Mary on the second.

Yeah let’s blame it on the Officials. Seems to be a common take around here.

Let’s just ignore the 14 Penalties. Let’s just ignore that Dak played really bad. Missed open receivers while trying to make the difficult throw. He’s not a championship level NFL QB.

But let’s focus on the One play where they were rolling the dice with 14 secs left. Where he ran 5 yrds too far to begin with. Where they tried to spot the ball themselves. Where players were walking back to the line. Yeah it’s the Officials fault.

Anyone blaming the Officials are in a very minor minority or just blinded Dallas Fans
