Truth of the matter, Cal can’t force anyone to return! I’m sure he has told some of them that they should come back, it’s their decision to make not Cals!
Never took the bet
because we all have, lol.
movies have as much bearing on our lives as sports, but I bet everyone on here has complained about a movie, lol
For someone to act like they haven’t...lol
There is a significant difference between complaining or criticizing something trivial such as a movie, and a kid’s personal decision to forgo their amateur eligibility for professional options.
If that is something you do not see or understand ... then you are part of the problem—not the solution.
Before you start making personal attacks against someone—rather than the topic at hand—at least make sure that you actually have an [objective] argument yourself.
Just what I figured. Get challenged and change course. How am I on my ‘high horse’ when I simply stated the truth? There’s nothing ‘holier’ about what I have said; I simply countered the point(s) you were attempting to make with objectivity.
I don’t know anything about your previous posts; it is irrelevant to this specific thread. You started our exchange because you chose to defend people who criticize and complain about our players for their personal decisions that they make for themselves—all of which have no impact or effect from those decisions on anyone else.
What you previously stated [in regards to players and their personal decisions] has nothing to do with Cal and how he operates his program—this is an entirely different topic. Cal did not create this system or the culture; the parameters of this current system were established by the NCAA. Cal simply does one thing—which he does better than anyone else—and that is to bring in the best talent possible and develop it a high-level. And he continues to do that because he helps prepare top-talent for their professional careers better than anyone else.
The culture of ‘one and done’ was brought upon by the NCAA and NBA when they started restricting kids from declaring for the Draft immediately out of high school. Kids leaving early is simply a business decision that they make for themselves. Cal will never encourage anyone to return who shouldn’t comeback if they are ready for a professional career; but, he does encourage kids to return who need to—which is also something he can not force them to do. Why? Because it’s their own personal decision, not his.
This isn’t his ‘system’ or his ‘culture;’ it’s merely a byproduct of his ability to recruit the best players and develop players at a high-level. Kids who leave early on their own accord isn’t a culture ... it’s a personal decision. Don’t blame Cal.
Yep
And if someone decides they want to be a pro player, probably time to quit calling them a “kid”
Most of these kids making these personal decisions are not even twenty-years-old; regardless, a young person opting to chase their dream as a professional athlete does not negate their status as a kid.
Freddy Adu started playing professionally for the D.C. United soccer club at 14. Coco Gauff was 15 when she defeated Serena Williams at Wimbledon.
Were they fully-grown adults when this occurred? No. They were simply child prodigies within their respective sport ... who happened to play professional athletes. But, they were still kids.
Just what I figured. Get challenged and change course.
No, you got on your high horse trying to dictate how everyone should think or feel about this situation. News flash, Coach, you are not my parent nor my boss, so you don’t have that right. Now I don’t know how you got so swoll up on yourself, you might want to back right out of this one.Who changed course? I didn’t, you did; I was making an argument(s) in regards to personal decisions made by these players—you’re the one who brought up Cal and his alleged culture and system (neither of which he “created” like you claimed). I then challenged that—with objectivity.
We’re still waiting for you to bring forth an objective argument grounded in reason and facts. The only thing you’ve accomplished is a subjective opinion based solely on personal belief; instead of an educated perspective with factual evidence.
*Just what I figured.
they’re over 18 and choose to be professional...they aren’t kids
Are they not kids because they’re a ‘pro player,’ or because ‘they’re over 18?’
You initially claimed because they chose to play professionally, then that’s what makes them an adult; now you’re saying it’s because they’re over eighteen; which is it?
I presented two kids—who were/are professional athletes—both of whom are under the age of eighteen. So are they kids or adults?
No, you got on your high horse trying to dictate how everyone should think or feel about this situation. News flash, Coach, you are not my parent nor my boss, so you don’t have that right. Now I don’t know how you got so swoll up on yourself, you might want to back right out of this one.
ok. No offense dude, but I’m putting you in ignore. Take care. And, like you tried to do before, don’t think you “outwit” me. I just don’t want to see your posts. You’re tiring. Enjoy life dude and remember: you aren’t allowed to ever complain about anything else the rest of your life. Later!
And if some on here can’t accept a segment of the fan base is tired of all the transfers and 7/8 guys leaving every year, depleting the roster, maybe you all should find another board to post in. See how this works.
Well I am still waiting for you to show me where I crucified anybody. Put up or shut up time.I’m not dictating anyone. However, it’s objectively wrong to crucify a kid(s) for making a personal decision—which affects no one but themselves—about their professional aspirations.
And, you’re right, I’m not your guardian and I have not and will not tell you what your opinion should be; but, I am someone who can tell you that if you crucify and criticize kids who make a personal decision for themself, then you are objectively wrong.
You have a right to your opinion; however, that opinion can still be objectively wrong. Also, we’re still waiting for you to bring forth an objective argument relevant to the topic. And you still haven’t...
so, should we all bow down and worship your perceived intelligence? When someone has to toot their own horn, they lose the debate. You accuse me of something, but have yet to show any facts, since you keep spouting off about facts, where is your facts? Welcome to my ignore button, you can go there with the other buffoons, I had to ignore. You responded [first] to me with a personal attack against me—which was egregious and objectively wrong—that had no merit or relevance to the topic of discussion. You continued to do that without any objective argument and I countered every senseless point you made with factual evidence or claims.
If I were you, I would walk away, too. You chose to defend arrogant and ignorant people who lack any rational reason for crucifying young men about decisions they make that are irrelevant to the public. You attacked me and continued to—that’s your fault all of it was thrown back in your face.
You have a personal right to a public forum and discussion; but, don’t get upset when people utilize intelligence and objective claims as the basis of their rational arguments to counter your subjective opinions.
or Villanova...or UConn....or UNC....Cal just finished year eleven at Kentucky; if you’re unhappy about what takes place or you still haven’t adjusted with the change by now then you can’t be helped. Go ask Indiana how the “traditional” ways are going for them...
You said “every year”. It’s simply not true. You can’t count that high, how many is coming back this year, what about previous years?
Man you are not very well liked around here. No, you got on your high horse trying to dictate how everyone should think or feel about this situation. News flash, Coach, you are not my parent nor my boss, so you don’t have that right. Now I don’t know how you got so swoll up on yourself, you might want to back right out of this one.
They don't have to put up with it on RR, just don't click on those threadsYes, people are entitled to their opinion in terms of ‘how to fan’ or what they believe a player should do [in terms of Draft decisions], but that perspective / opinion can be incorrect.
Objectively, no one can say a young man is wrong for making their own decision; the decision to declare for professional options is solely up to that specific player—whether it is right or wrong is solely based on that specific kid’s opinion. The same can be said for those who decide to transfer to another institution. Maybe they’re just doing what is best for them?
I believe this is what frustrates people who have to watch and listen to a certain segment of the fan base complain about Draft decisions. Cal just finished year eleven at Kentucky; if you’re unhappy about what takes place or you still haven’t adjusted with the change by now then you can’t be helped. Go ask Indiana how the “traditional” ways are going for them...

This thread went South in a hurry.

Coming from you.Man you are not very well liked around here.
Do you realize how many hours you’ve spent the last few days complaining and expressing anger and negativity about Kentucky basketball?Coming from you.You and Bassfan are laughed at more than anyone on this board. Taking a break from play station?
This is a chat room, right? We are supposed to have an exchange if ideas, information, opinions, etc.I get tired of all the whiners and complainers on this site. Kuddos to the players leaving to chase their dreams - while I am not sure I would have made the same decision in all their cases, we need to be excited for them. One of the reasons we get the recruits we do is Coach Cal and his staffs ability to coach them, improve their games and enable them to reach their goal.
Also Cal backed off Green, Todd and Christopher and landed the #1 class. How thankful are we that he focused on Clarke, Boston, Askew, Jackson, Ware and Fletcher over those going overseas or deciding for their hometown school.
We should be appreciative at what Coach Cal and his staff do year in and year out for our fanbase. I realize we will be young, very young, but we have an incredibly talented group of recruits coming in - lots to be excited about!
All you have to do is notice what most of my posts are about. I have never made a secret that I hate the OAD, but I tolerate it. Most of the back and forth I get into on here is with other posters, you know the ones, the ones that think they can dictate what a real fan is, tell other how to think and feel, agree with them or you are a troll, not a true fan, etc, the ones that refuse or can not have a civil debate about the current status of UK basketball, instead they hurl insults and name call, the ones that think they are smarter than every one else. I literally despise those types of people and I love ruffling their feathers. I love UK basketball, I think Cal is the perfect fit. Does that mean I support everything he says and does, NO. Do I wish he would mange to keep some guys around, YES. My biggest beef is with the culture we have here and the pompous posters that think their shit don’t stink. Hope this clarifies a few things for you.Do you realize how many hours you’ve spent the last few days complaining and expressing anger and negativity about Kentucky basketball?
If I felt that way about a girlfriend, I’d leave.
If I felt that way about my wife, and no kids were involved, I’d divorce her.
If I felt that way about my house, I’d sell it.
Why devote so much time to something that brings you no joy, just misery, bitterness and anger?
I don’t think you are a troll like Zaytoven and several others. I believe you are a Kentucky fan. I just don’t know why.
I’m not here to be liked. But what I don’t do is piss on the program I love. You take ever chance you have to crap on cal and the players. Grow up.Coming from you.You and Bassfan are laughed at more than anyone on this board. Taking a break from play station?

You just described 90% of the posters on the political board. Pot meet kettleAll you have to do is notice what most of my posts are about. I am not here to be liked either and nor am I a hypocrite. Like a few others here. I do not piss on the program, I ruffle feathers, you proved my point. You don’t really care about the program, if you did you would be upset about what’s going on with it. You are a coach lover.I’m not here to be liked. Do you admit you troll people?I am not here to be liked either and nor am I a hypocrite. Like a few others here. I do not piss on the program, I ruffle feathers, you proved my point. I sure do,only the ones that deserve it.Do you admit you troll people?
NOw do you admit you love the coach more than the program?Do you admit you troll people?
I loved Hall. I loved Sutton. I loved pitino. I loved billy until I didn’t. And I love cal. What do all those coaches have in common? They coach U.K. the team and state I love.NOw do you admit you love the coach more than the program?
It is awesome you have chosen to live your life this way. I am probably the second happiest guy on the planet behind ya. You and I would probably get along very well. But I choose to go ape s&$1 when my team , UK loses. It’s the way I am built, and I am not ashamed to yell at the TV, follow recruiting, attend games and cheer, and add a little emotion to something I enjoy watching. It’s why I am a fan. I don’t critique anyone who chooses another route. For me, life is short and I intend to enjoy it watching my college compete in sports and I will live with the consequences! Athletics is an emotional event. Thank you for your post!
