12 total tackles (8 solo). 1 sack. 1 PDWhat are J.J.'s numbers so far through the first three games? Does he have a sack? Have they been turning him loose on 3rd down? I was at the game on Saturday and I didn't see him in too many plays.
This isn't true. Josh Allen dropped into coverage and was amazing when he did.Do you guys think its just the scheme? When Josh Allen was here he always rushed the passer. JJ seems to be dropped into coverage a lot.
Nope...Josh dropped in coverage at times.Do you guys think its just the scheme? When Josh Allen was here he always rushed the passer. JJ seems to be dropped into coverage a lot.
I don't think it's scheme. When you break down game film, it looks like Weaver doesn't have an "it factor" to shed blocks and get to the QB. That can be technique, strength, or instincts. When he does get to the backfield, he often misses the tackle. Disruptive, but without the finish. The best pass rushers don't get to the QB every play, but they make it count more often than not when they do.Do you guys think its just the scheme? Most OL's so far have been scheming to double team Deone Walker. JJ has been doing his job, and others have been getting the benefits of it. Our MLB is leading the SEC in sacks. That doesn't happen if the guys in front of him (or to his sides) aren't doing their job.As his numbers would suggest, JJ has been just 'ok'. From what I've seen in the first 3 games, other teams don't appear to be scheming around him like they did Josh Allen. He's just another guy on the edge who may or may not apply any pressure on any given play. Seems like he's doing his job on the running game and setting the edge but is no where near the disruptive presence I thought he'd be by this point in his career.
Maybe he'll turn it up a notch in SEC play but, personally, I sort of doubt it.
Wasn't he dropped into coverage almost half of the plays. It was a really high number I thoughtThis isn't true. Josh Allen dropped into coverage and was amazing when he did.
I know he did get into pass coverage, like the play at Florida, saving a td pass. But when the team needed a pass rush Allen was pinning his ears back.Nope...Josh dropped in coverage at times.
Jordan Wright, Weaver now...just aren't great pass rushers....sort of mediocre to below average.
Hope Wade, Fearby, Noah Matthews, and the new recruits will get us back to respectable edge rush.
Allen dropped back into coverage more than just rare...most times we line him at LOS and heavy blitz opposite side.I know he did get into pass coverage, like the play at Florida, saving a td pass. But when the team needed a pass rush Allen was pinning his ears back.
Mmmmmm. When Josh Allen was here he always rushed the passer.
The double (and triple teams) Walker is absorbing have opened massive rush lanes on both sides of the “scrum” created by Walker’s presence. Most OL's so far have been scheming to double team Deone Walker. Yes.He just is who he is. Which is an above average SEC player, and there's no shame in that, but he's not the level of NFL player people project onto him.
I don't think hardly any will touch Josh Allen's 18 sacks season....and I don't hold the next generation to his standard.Yes.
And let’s be honest: we watch for a return of Josh Allen’s senior stats from every edge. And in doing so, we are projecting an image of the most decorated player in UK program history. His 18 sacks in 2019 dwarf most annual leaders in sacks in the SEC, typically 8 to 12 sacks do the trick. You have to meander back to Derrick Thomas at Bama in the late 80’s to find truly comparable numbers.
JJ might make some All-conference teams should he turn it up a notch.
He’s a very good player.
Oh I agree totally! I just think the schemes don’t put him in the position to show all of his skills.Yes.
