Think about it. We beat the National Champions by 3 in December. We lost to them by 2 on a last second shot in March. And some of our fans are disappointed. That's CRAZY!! In January like most fans I said this team would not win the Championship if they didn't start playing some defense. And Cal got them to start playing defense ,and we turned into a Championship caliber team. No one should be disappointed!! To set the Bar to have a successful season is whether our team wins the Championship or not is ridiculous. As fans we need to be satisfied and proud of our Cats for winning the SEC and SEC Tournament. For making the Final 8. Sometimes I think we forget how hard it is to do what this team accomplished. Thanks for representing UK with CLASS!

I was proud of the way this team came together, I didn't know what was going happen when we went on that skid. Cal did a heck of a job.

I think most are disappointed in how and who we lost to, and the fact that said team went on to win it all.

Yes indeed. It is hard to win the tournament.

But when the officials are dead set determined every year to cheat you out of winning, it becomes impossible.

That's where we are right now. It is no coincidence that we are on the butt end of bad draws and horrible calls every frickin' year.

It is definitely hard to win a title, but what has been devastating about some of our losses in the Cal era is that we seemed to have a team clicking at the right time and then we come up just a bit short. This year reminded me a lot of 2011. That team started rough, there were lots of questions about whether we'd make any type of run at all, and then we put it together, won the SEC tournament, and won a high profile tournament game. People then got excited but we eventually fell by a handful of points to the eventual champions in a game that was not the official national championship game but everyone knew that it basically was.

I'm proud of how this team worked hard and went on that fantastic winning streak to end the season and that carried into the postseason. If we avoided a bracket of death we probably would've found our way into another Final Four at the very least.

What does worry me, though, is that every time we fall short and a program like Duke or UNC wins they come closer to us in the overall national title total. We are now only 2 clear of UNC.

Yep. Cal talked about catching UCLA. He needs to not let UNC catch us.

Roy has won 3 titles in 14 years at UNC. Let's see if Cal can at least win one more in the next 5 years.

If Cal doesn't, his tenure would go down as one that was a lot of fun with a lot of wins, but 1 title with what would be probably 40 or more NBA players over his tenure would be considered a disappointment overall.

I think he gets another though.

If we go 40-0 in 2015 people would be much less on edge. We need to win another one to exercise that demon, just like Jordan Spieth needs to win another Masters to excercise those demons.

It takes being good and lucky and the right path to win the championship, North Carolina was good and extremely lucky. I'm not sure they could have beaten UCLA, Carolina's last game was their easiest, it's not supposed to be that way.

My god this crap has just been beaten to death. Cal is cal he's done great but for his legacy he needs at least one more for him to be what he's capable of. Anything less isn't the standard of a coach with his ability. He's got time and when K is gone he'll have the game and most recruits he wants to himself. Roy is done anyway. Self isn't a threat.

The end.

This tournament just proves my theory that "LUCK" plays a very significant role in winning this tournament. The best team often does not prevail at the end.

Reality is this: Cal has done a great job. In fact, in my 58 + years, his teams have consistently been stronger than those of any other coach during those years.
I was once a bball primarily fan but somewhere that all changed. When your standard of success is winning the NC with anything else being a failure, you're doomed to be disappointed. In my 58 years, the season has ended in disappointment 54 of those years. Compounding the problem is that rarely does the best team win the nc. IMO, with the way the team was playing at the end, they could have taken no less than 6 of 10 against anyone in the final 8.
The truth is this year's team did very well and, by objective standards, was a success.

Amen. There were 20 years between Rupp's last NC in 58 and Hall's in 78.

Then another 18 until 96. We got spoiled by having another in 98.

14 more years until 2012.

Cal's run has been amazing. Anyone that can't be satisfied or tries to call him a disappointment, is a fool!
