We were out hustled. They were more physical. Our guys were trying hero ball or 1 on 1 moves most all game. It was like we had no offensive plays. I would once like to see Pope get pissed and go off on the team. We desperately needed something to wake us up and we never got it. So tired of players driving by us constantly for easy baskets. SEC is going to be brutal if we don't wake up soon.

This is what has happened in every game we’ve had this year against a power 5 team aside from Louisville. Only difference is we made comebacks in those. Gonzaga missed a lot of shots and free throws. Are we the team that makes a 10-15 point comeback or are we the team that gets down 10-15? I’m leaving towards the latter

We played badly
I’m not upset, I believe we are better than this
But my expectations for this season weren’t unrealistic …we were doing far better than anticipated.
This team will win some big games and will lose some games they shouldn’t. I still think the future is bright but it will take time

Pope needs to answer for this garbo. I hope he don't get let off the hook like Calipari was let off of the hook over and over again. The first question should be "How did you get stomped tf out by a team that lost by FORTY to Auburn and by THIRTY to Maryland ?!"..the 2nd question should be "How does this team look so piss poor after a week off to prepare for this game ?"

Auburn will beat us by 60 if we start this slow, shoot this poorly and play this type of D. This is a $hit show tonight. Didn't think I would see this poor of a showing in MSG.

This is it. I'm just going to try to enjoy the season much as I can this year. We'll get beat in the SEC this year, no doubt, but still a decent team to watch in Pope's first year. This is just a beginning and , I agree, we'll have some good wins and some bad losses the rest of this season. But I still think Pope is just getting started and will do well at UK.

No rim protection from Williams, costly turnovers at very critical times, way too many missed fts by Williams. We don't have the athleticism to be a great team and we saw that in this game by a team that had players who could create their own shots. Brea can't, Garrison can''t and gave us almost nothing, Jackson can at times, but really didn't try taking over the game as he did v Gonzaga and why in God's name did he not dunk the ball right at the rim with no one there to contest. That and the TO on the next possession destroyed what could have been another comeback.

I can't think of anything we did well today except the ft shooting of Oweh and Carr. Oweh is a great athlete, but he really doesn't have the handles to create his own shot against teams with enough rim protection to stop him from waltzing to the basket for bank shots or stuffs. Chandler looks like he can't create his own shot and Carr, who rarely takes 3s, missed the couple of wide open ones he had and he's too slow to handle players with any semblance of quickness just as Amari is. I just think this team isn't deep enough when it comes to having players with the athleticism to create their own shots and make them. Give Pope time, but a lot of THIS TEAM'S weaknesses were exposed in this game. Our defence is statistically the worst in the SEC in points allowed and fouls committed, although today the refs were horrible and UK certainly didn't get any favors from them.

athleticism to create their own shotse and hit them

Sometimes chalk need to be thrown at halftime and dry erase boards need to be broken, these are the times I’d like to see coach get a little more upset in timeouts etc. it’s ok to get on players and we needed it today.

Agree. Bad game all around tonight. Pick up the pieces, figure out how to play D against quick guards and move on. Our shooting will be way better than this most games going forward. At least I sure as hell hope so. The sky isn't falling, OSU just played better

I agree with everything you said. Yes, we will win some and lose some. We played badly, however, I didn't think we would lose by 20. That was the surprise. I wonder if Coach Pope ever gets angry. I mean really angry. He's always so optimistic, which i like. But then again, he needs to be firm with the players after a game like this. This type of play is totally unacceptable. I don't think I'm being unrealistic. Again, yes we lose some, but by 20 points? There's a problem and I hope (and believe) that it gets worked out. The lack of effort needs to be addressed by a firm response by the coach.

No you’re not being unrealistic at all. That’s not what I meant when I said that. Lose games yes, by 20, no.
And you’re right…it was unacceptable.
I do think Mark gets angry, and I do think the players will hear about it. I just don’t think he’s the type who will throw any player under the bus publicly. He will put on a good front to the media and address the issues in private

Yes, yes, yes. We definitely agree. I'm glad Coach isn't the type to throw a player under the bus. That, to me, is one of the quickest ways to kill a player's confidence and attitude. Could be why we had some problems in the past?! I'm not worried at all, just a little surprised by the outcome. Not by the loss, again, because we will lose some. But the amount of the loss. If anyone can fix our issues, it is definitely Coaxh Pope! Time to move on and get ready for the next game.

UK was flat - expecting an easy win - plus they didn’t get any calls from the refs. they’ll be back big.
They saw what Auburn did to Ohio State and thought they were a patsy. They have been toying with a loss this whole holiday season and went to the big 🍎 to have a good time. Hopefully a wakeup call and not a trend.

I agree. They underestimated an unranked team that just got drilled by 30. Just showed up and went through the motions. But defensive concerns of stopping the ball and not cutting and sharing have been a problem for weeks. We kinda need Chandler to get good fast, he can guard better than Brea and Robinson and we need an option if they are no shows. Amari needs to learn his role, pass rebound and try to play defense…that’s it. We will be fine, it’s year one. But we are losing at least 8 games in conference.

Real head scratcher last night. The whole team generally played terrible but for a few bright spots. They all seemed a step slow and disinterested compared to the first 11 games. Hoping they just overlooked this team, got caught up in the extracurriculars on NYC, and didn’t show up ready to play. Hopefully a lesson learned.

This 100%

First game I think real criticism is deserved.

Played like a ran that had walked miles in miles around NYC for 2 days being tourist and had their mind on everything but a basketball game.

No legs as showcased by the abysmal shooting and even missed layups. Mentally and physically flat. Lackadaisical passing etc
