Funny, literally every item you listed is most certainly fixable.Amari Williams limited game is not fixable. Krissa being an unreliable liability at backup PG is not fixable. Garrison having a low basketball IQ and exhibiting why as a McDonald’s American he has no NBA future is not fixable. Carr being a terrible defender and inconsistent offensive player is not fixable.
Oh yeah it’s definitely gonna be a brutal conference with everyone beating up on each other, I just have a hard time seeing this team go 13-10 in the remaining games, I could be wrong but I’m gonna go more like 16-7 maybe 15-8 in the rest of the regular seasonI don't think they lose 11 regular season games, but I also don't think it's completely out of the question. The SEC is going to be BRUTAL. Lunardi currently has 12 SEC teams in the tourney and LSU is in the first four out. There's a reason the conference went 9-1 against the ACC last night. I still think what I thought at the beginning of the year, 8-10 losses, top 1/3 of the SEC, and a 4-6 seed. After the Duke game I got caught up in the hysteria over that win and overvalued it. The last three games, and also the Duke game, have offered somewhat of a scouting playbook. Now it's time for Pope and the Cats to get busy working on improving against defensive pressure and trusting in the system on offense.
Have you seen what the SEC just did to the ACC?You really think this team goes 13-10 the rest of the way?
Knight was still a level above anyone on the squad honestly, I believe we have enough this year to get to a final four if we master the offense and get a break or 2 like every other team who ever made one. That said I still think we finish around 22-8 and have a shot. I’m good with that.Who was that go-to guy on the 2003 team?
Bogans? Not likely. Even when he was healthy, he was not a primary scorer. He was very good, but often his "shot creation" consisted of putting his head down and bullying his way to the basket.
How about 2011? Knight? He was so on and off that even when he matured, he could hardly be counted on.
We've had good teams in the past who didn't have anyone close to the level of a Malik Monk or Antonio Reeves, and still managed earning high seeds and advancing with them.
We have some guys who can create in Carr, Oweh, and Butler. I'm not concerned. It was a nasty road environment that most of our guys have never encountered, and UK missed at least ten open threes.
You put the 2003, 2004, 1999, 2005, 2011, and a host of other historically solid UK teams in that environment, and they're all walking out of there with an L.
Thee upside and downside of a team built in a month is; this group is a collective. It has no single individual to take over. It will always go as the group goes. Only Butler and sometimes Oweah can create, and that’s not even the problem. The problem is when we get pressed off the 3pt line, do they continue playing the system, or do they put the ball on the floor?I got shit on for saying this but it’s the truth. Not a single guy on this roster can consistently create
I think we need to see more of Brea and Robinson in together at the forwards. The one guarded by a 4 will be able to create their own shot off the dribble giving us an extra guy who can create his own shot. How many teams have a guy that can actually consistently create though? I don't think it's this end all be all asset that every team needs. Duke has Flagg yeah but even he is certainly stoppable. This idea that all these teams have some awesome bucket getter in their roster is silly. We have 2 above average guys in that type of game in Butler, and Oweh. You could throw Robinson in that as well to an extent but he's not really exceptional at it.
I’m looking at them as the same exact team as last year South Carolina team except I think Kentucky can make a sweet 16Thee upside and downside of a team built in a month is; this group is a collective. This is a rebuild year, make no mistake. This team is 100% designed to overachieve as a collective vs the individual. They’ll win and lose games they shouldn’t, but we won’t know the full berth for awhile.
That team won’t some games early based off of defense. While ours is decent, I think our ceiling is going to be based on our offense. However, we need to keep our defense in top 30 and offense top 15 to make actual noise. Total wait and see with this group and another 2 years with pope to see how he builds a group.I’m looking at them as the same exact team as last year South Carolina team except I think Kentucky can make a sweet 16
Brainwashed by Cal speak years agoThey act like every team has a guy that can all the sudden score at will, no matter what, and just decide to score anytime they want 😂
I wonder if Jaxson is so used to being on the bench that it's taking time for him to get a groove as an actual starter. Maybe he figures it out...still a long season to go.He is more bj Boston/tyty Washington group, which is fine is there your second or third best player, not your best like Robinson is suppose to be for this squad
Don’t need one. Just need them to trust the offense and stop going solo. What your saying is literally what would breakdown the offense.Without Butler, we have no game. And that's a bit concerning.
Season's not over. But we have some very serious, but fixable, flaws. Got to get them fixed and now. Or the SEC will be brutal.
