Quade Green, Shai Alexander, Hamidou Diallo, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Kevin Knox all were full time point guards for their high school teams i have heard most years. We know Cal will not run that many point guards and switch it up like that. But its crazy to think about how good our ball handling will be.

No. Quade Green will be our point guard.

Playing point in high school has about as much meaning to a college team as playing the trumpet. Unless it was for a prep school, most high school teams put their best player at point. Similar to the way most high school football teams put their best athlete at QB.

i agree quade will be our full time pg..i wanted to point out ball handling and distributing will not be a weakness for this team.

Agree that we wont have PG by committee but dont count out SGA as starting PG. if Quade is reckless with ball Cal wont hesitate to start SGA.
We will however have a PF by committee.

what i meant by committee is no cal will not start different pg every game..but we can kick it out after a rebound to about 5 to 6 guys to bring it up the court. and thats on a regular

That's fine. But there's no way anyone other than Quade or Shai will play point guard.

yes they will play point guard for us...if they both get hurt we have others who can fill in. we struggled a bit when fox was out and we only had briscoe. If green go out im happy with shai or even one of the names i mentioned above to run point.

Brad will be our starting point guard, if everyone comes down with ebola except for him.

I can play the absurd scenario game too.

I think we lose at WVU but watching these guys handle the ball against them will be very interesting.

There's a difference in playing by committee, and playing by emergency. "If they both get hurt" is a horrible, forced situation in which one of the wings would have to play the point.

Those guys can handle the ball well for forwards, but lets not get carried away here.

Can you believe this time last year some on this board were questioning whether Fox would be the starter at point. Green will be our starting PG. Seems like a lot of people don't know how good he is. Natural leader and get's everybody their shots where they want them. Will have lot's of double doubles I think. Mucho oops.

I like our chances if we are allowed 6 or 7 players on the court.
what i meant is we can kick it to diallo thats 1, kevin thats 2, vando thats 3, shai thats 4, jemarl thats 5, shai thats 6 people besides quade who can bring the ball up in transition. boy yall are slow sometimes.

if everyone comes down with ebola im sure we will forfeit the game...and hey maybe it will comes a time when brad has to bring the ball up the court ala jarrod polson..its very unlikely but shit happens.

You forgot We can also kick it out to Brad Calipari too... NBA scouts constantly state how bad a shooter and ball handler Diallo is, yet you're convinced he can run the show for us. We have 11 guys who can dribble a ball up the court, that ain't pg by committee.

running the show and bringing the ball up in transition is two different things.

Dribbling the ball up for your HS team doesnt make you a pg on the college level. Quade and Shai are PG's.

LOL ok but this was posted by gossie21 scroll up "

Knox was never a full time pg nor hami, Vanderbilt. They brought the ball down a lot but they were never point guards. There is a big difference that most fans understand

Two point guards. One willget 33/35 miutes per game if not more.

I see no reason for anyone to be playing 30+ a game. If anyone does it would seem like Diallo would be the prime suspect but that seems less than optimal. We have the horses, we should let them run.

I also think you are just sleeping too hard on Alexander. I think Green has a little advantage but not so much as to turn a kid this talented into hanging with Brad status.

27ish minutes is what I'm hoping and expecting for the starting point guard because I'm expecting the guy that gets edged out to make far too good of an accounting of themselves to permit it.

This isn't a short rotation team in my eyes, the talent is too evenly distributed and each guy brings their own set of tools.

I don't recall anyone seriously thinking Fox wouldn't be the pg. it was a consensus that Fox, Monk, Briscoe would be the pg sg sf and bam C. The only question was PF

understood, when you said "they brought the ball down alot" is all good with me as long as they can do that makes us even more dangerous.

Yes, we've got a lot of capable ball handlers and passers (one of the things pro scouts rave about with Vanderbilt). Quade will be our floor general, though, he's very active and talkative out there, other players instinctively follow his lead.

We can run a lineup of SGA, Green, Diallo, Knox, and Vanderbilt and have one of the best ballhandling lineups of all time that are more than capable on the defensive end of not creating a single mismatch. That'd be fun to watch against a team that doesn't have a great frontcourt. Vanderbilt and Knox can guard their bigs, Diallo their 3, SGA at 2, & Green on their PG.

Give the 3 bigs a break. Sub in Gabriel and Baker if anyone needs it.

What a fun team to think about on paper. 5 top 25 players that all handle the ball extremely well. Especially Knox and Vanderbilt for their size.
