Way-Too-Early List of the Top 2015-16 CBB Player of the Year Candidates

I'm surprised Ullis didn't even make the list. Ignore Andrew Harrison's official jock-strap holders and it's easy to see he was our pg last year. He might not have as much NBA potential as Harrison (hell, he might even be better there too!) but he is without a doubt the better college pg.

Also surprised not to see Murray, but his addition was late. All this list tells me is that UK is going to surprise a lot of people this season, and it's fun being the dark horse when we (BBN) all know how good this team actually is.

I think they only put in one candidate per team, despite never saying so in the article.

I'd agree with the 1 player per. And it makes sense. Usually are 2 players from a team both legitimately in the running. Sometimes, stats don't mean much either. Willie Cauley-Stein was a first team All-American. So maybe it will be Grayson Allen and not Brandon Ingram. Or Justin Jackson and not Marcus Paige. Or Jamal Murray and not Skal. Who knows. It's clear it was 1 per team though.

You're going to have story lines and players who develop, while others don't. For a mid-July list, I'd say it's solid. People complain that it's underwhelming, but who else is there to put on it?

They said so in the article. It's on the second slide. They said they set themselves a limit of one candidate per team: their rationale was it's hard to make a case for best player in the country when you're not even cut and dry the best player on your own team.

Even so, they kinda acknowledged that was arbitrary and they gave a short list of 10 players they felt really bad about cutting for that reason. Ulis and Poy were both on that list.
