UK baseball coach Nick Mingione met with the media today to discuss fall practice and UK's Fall World Series, which will take place this weekend.
Some notes:
-Mingione said Evan White is the best defensive first baseman he's ever been around. White, who played outfield at times for Team USA over the summer, has practiced at all three outfield spots this fall. Mingione said he throws in the upper 80s from the outfield.
-Pitching is the big question mark for Kentucky, but Mingione has been pleased with what he's seen so far. Roles still haven't been defined and probably won't be until the season gets closer, but Justin Lewis, Sean Hjelle, Zach Logue, Logan Salow and freshmen Chris Machamer and Zack Thompson have thrown the ball well.
