I thought for sure they’d be the Washington Comanches.

Wart Hogs would've worked. It does go with the team's history. The Monuments? Commanders is just a nothing nickname. Can't imagine many fans are enthused by it when there were others that surely would've generated more positive reactions.

I’m sure there is a Commander somewhere that is offended. Should change it to the Washington No Names so as to not offend anybody.

I realize mascots and nicknames are engrained in our sports culture. But their kinda silly. The Washington Football Team was actually growing on me. Was all business. Was at least unique.

Sorry just don’t get it. It’s typically a compliment to name something after someone, but not a sports team, pancake syrup or rice. Should have just kept the “Red” in the name and went with rednecks. Since it’s supposed to be insulting that would have been insulting to a lot of white people which would have made the woke crowd happy. Oddly enough would have probably made rednecks everywhere proud and happy as well.
