Was wynyard about to check in at end?

You're outta here, sir. : )

Man, you have to be the most jaded person on this board. Everytime I see you post in a thread, I can be positive you are going to gift with someone. It's funny to read, but you are one sensitive dude. Or maybe you're a female, I really don't know. That would explain it I guess. If you're a guy, sorry. I'm just looking for reasons.

Like I stated in another post, Santa didn't bring him the present he wanted. He sure is itchy about it though...

Ya

Yawn.

I remember siding with him not long ago; I don't remember why. But I can see my logic was flawed. This guy is just silly.

I tried to be nice to the guy. Some can't take a joke.... Oh well... I do tend to get abrasive. I make no claim to being a basketball guru, never have, just like the Cats... guess that's not good enough for some....

Ice, you gonna be bored only reading your own posts at this rate lol.

I'm reading plenty of posts. I don't live my life here and only need to see what I want to. You've got a lot of posters here that waste everyone's time piling on a thread when the thread is over, as this one was long ago before smart allecs had to stop in and flex their internet muscles. No worries here. I'm getting what I want out of this site and ignoring what I don't want.

10-4.

I always remember that 78 title game in which Hall pulled his starters and Duke made a run. He had to put the starters back in.

I rewatched the last few minutes of that game. While it's true that Hall took out his starters and put in the bench warmers, and it's true that UK promptly turned the ball over and Duke was able to score 2 free throws (making it 92-86), it seems apparent that Hall intended to bring back his starters all along. I say this because while Bob Bender was shooting his free throws Hall had Kyle Macy up and was giving him instructions as if he was going to come back in.

FWIW, Ralph Hacker, who was Cawood's color commentator on the radio feed said that Hall wanted to allow the starters to receive an ovation and to give the bench an opportunity to say they played in the championship game, but he at the time also wasn't surprised that the starters were coming back in.

As it turned out Jay Shidler (who was a regular player) missed a one-and-one and Mike Gminski scored a basket against UK's regulars to make the score 92-88, before James Lee drove the final nail in Duke's coffin.

Regardless of Hall's intentions, it was a pretty gutsy and potentially disastrous call to make. One which I don't think many other coaches would make.

Here is an example of a needless injury:

The Tar Heels' next game, on November 18, was against another equally storied team, Kentucky. The Heels scored a surprisingly easy 77–58 win over the Wildcats, but suffered another injury blow, this time involving Zeller. With 1:26 left in the game, Zeller went for a breakaway dunk off a turnover, but was fouled by Kentucky's Ramon Harris before he could score. Zeller fell to the floor awkwardly, got up, and was taken to the locker room holding his left wrist.[4]

X-rays showed that Zeller had broken both of the major bones in his lower left arm (the radius and ulna). The day after the injury, he had surgery at UNC Hospitals to repair the broken bones.[5] In early January 2009, Zeller's cast was removed.

That was a very unfortunate injury.

Not to blame him but Zeller was showboating IMO trying to make a long-distance one-handed tomahawk dunk which left him extremely vulnerable in the air.

UNC fans like to blame Ramon Harris for contesting the dunk but at the time the game was not out of range and Harris made a fantastic basketball play on the ball. In fact I remember it took looking at about 9 different angles of photos and videos to even see where Harris made contact with Zeller and deserved a foul being called.

Hyper sensitive.

I'll take my chances that our subs don't give it 30 points to anyone in three minutes.
What concerns me more is risking an injury to a starter when the game is well in hand.
Nope, good opportunity to run sets against guys that don't see the plays everyday and try new things if they want. They are just as likely to get hurt in practice considering they do that longer in a week than minutes played in a game. And if I recall, one player got injured in this game at the start of the second half and the week before one got injured in warmups..so
