Vitale Wants Larry Brown Banned, Compliments Boeheim, Doesn't Mention Roy

Vitale is not worth the effort. People like him only believe what they want.

I used to really like Dickie V - met the man once and he was kind and gracious and much more soft-spoken than you would have expected. Add in all the work he's done to raise funds for cancer research and it was hard NOT to like him.

But then again, that was many years ago; he gets more....um.... eccentric? each passing year. But, as with the rest of you, his complete silence on the unc** scandal really annoys me. Worse - it pisses me off. One of the most vocal and well known names SHOULD be talking about it and not to defend it.

He isn't wrong about Brown but Vitale plays favorites. How can he call out Brown and then kiss Boeheim's ass when he has put Syracuse on probation twice in his time there. Has any other coach put their own program on probation twice?? Not even Larry Brown has done that. If Brown needs to be banned - and i agree he does, then so does Boehiem.
Denny Crum put UL on probation twice.

Why does UK continue to have no iissues with former players and coaches? Why is it always Kansas, UNC, and SMU that end up FACTUALLY having to wash off stink? And the funny part is one of them touts "the way" and claims sainthood over basketball.

I swear, if Noam Chomsky cared about college basketball, watch out!

Before a rival fan responds, that's not exactly true. Chapman, Porter and Farmer aren't exactly choir boys.

Well let them respond, because everything you mentioned is personal. I mentioned nothing personal at all.

This story is a loooong one but something to chew on, why doesnt mighty MATT JONES and KSR touch it? Why dont they have the nuts of the Raleigh News Observer?

Matt won't touch anything controversial unless it is politics. Also Cal doesn't cotton to classless behavior directed at other schools except for Louisville so Matt doesn't get out of line much anymore.

Boeheim has gotten his school on probation twice, but he has also been coaching there since we landed on the moon, or at least it seems like it. I guess my point is, you coach somewhere 4 decades it makes it more likely you screw up more than once. I do not think that getting dinged twice at one school is any better than being dinged at several different ones. Cheating is cheating.

Addressing the issue at UNC doesn't have to be classless behavior since UNC has the distinction of the biggest scandal in NCAA history. Maybe it isn't Matt's style to address real issues in college basketball? But, if he does, UNC is certainly fair game and should be discussed.

All of the local news guys get real cagey when it comes to discussing UNC's troubles. My guess on why? "Don't throw bricks". Matt tends to throw zingers at this type of thing and I think Cal considers doing that at other programs except for Louisville as classless. I seem to remember Cal saying not to bring signs to games about this subject. Of course, this is just my opinion.
