Vince Looking Around Again

You totally didn’t read the story. So, a day after Looeyville names their new coach, they start a rumor to try to plant a seed of doubt in players minds. Come on man, be smarter than that. You actually think he had any interest in going to that shithole? I have read things today from people I thought had some sense.
No you didn’t read my post. I wrote that he’s doing a leverage play again and it’s getting old. He literally did this last week too

Vince is loving it at UK

He’s living the life of Riley guys

He’s the Big Dog and everyone knows it!

Why go anywhere else

He would only be miserable

I don't know who his agent is, but most likely it's Jimmy Sexton. He pulls this all the time, connecting a client's name with an opening. Client ends up getting a raise, and so does Jimmy Sexton.

Reported that Vince and UofL might be talking about him taking a position there? He does leverage plays constantly I’m kind of tired of it. Go or dont

How the fk did you come to that conclusion simply because someone started the rumor? Wtf is wrong with people? You don't shoot the horse because your opponent's jockey says the horse wants him to ride it....

I think I’ve heard before from reliable sources that Vince is always looking for an angle to get more money. Can’t say I fault him though 😁.

Why wouldn't ANYONE in that profession do so? Their jobs just got 10x more difficult with NIL and open transfers. They have no guarantees of money if the team suddenly tanks - especially the position coaches.

If you're tired of things, stop reading them AND STOP SHARING THEM ON SOCIAL MEDIA so the rumors continue. If you can't handle having a great recruiter on staff, maybe take a break from football news and recruiting, because we will both go after AND LOSE some great recruits, even while going after and GETTING other great recruits.

Expectations are your enemy unless you expect the unexpected to happen and don't get emotionally invested in things that are out of your control. This fact slaps me upside the head on the regular, so learn from my experience and start now

Rowland reported that earlier. He said VM and Jeff Brougm are familiar with each other, said it will resemble the Mel Tucker situation from a couple of years back. I dismissed it myself, still do. I think Rowland is reading the room wrong on this one.

You're going to tell me, Brougm has a better relationship with VM than Mark Stoops. Then you think Vince is going to spend 12 years helping Stoops build the players and culture at UK. Only to turn around and be on the outside looking in, right when they have things on the cusp of what they have been trying to achieve for 12 years. NOT BUYING IT!!

Well, this site hasn't had any news of any timeliness in weeks or months, while others are breaking things. They need clicks, but aren't putting the news out to get them. Why not generate some through starting rumors?

I'm guessing the staff here has been sick like so many others have been over the past few weeks. Prayers that they recover soon and can get back at it. Hope they don't resort to these types of stories going forward

Let’s see last week he had his three buddy reporters say he was a candidate for the Cincy head coaching job (lol). You probably believed it but it was BS. Now, the very next week, he has one of those same reporters float the UofL thing. It’s the same likelihood as the Cincy job - zero. And it gets old. Should we do this every week? While our class of ranked in the 50s?

Our class is closing strong. Even if you are not a believer in Marrow or the class, give it another two weeks. You might be surprised.

Our current class is ranked 43rd. We play in the best football conference and have a top 15 paid coach. We should be recruiting much better than 43rd. IMO, Marrow is far more hype than result. Losing him could enable us to find a much better recruiter.

UL's Rivals guy (ty Spaulding?) Was all about it. "Can confirm it has legs" and saying Marrow was interested... Up until Marrow said it was bs.

But Justin Rowland got really, really sensipoo about it. So I think you might be right about Rivals trying to drum up interest.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Recruiting is not over. Take a look at the visitor list this week and next. If Stoops cannot reel in any of these visitors, then complain away. But if he gets them, the class will look different. So if you don't like the class, at least wait until it is complete. But if you just want to take a shot at Marrow, you might end up looking foolish.

I have 10 years to go on. Not to mention, we have hosted players for over 2+ yrs for this class and still only rank 43rd. I wouldn't get my hopes to high for visitors over 2 weekends with no games and little football activity in general, aside from bowl prep with no OC. And we are just as likely to lose players late as add them.

So let's let it play out then we'll know.

Maybe. Recruiting is always a moving target without guarantees. But why rush to judge a class before it becomes a class? This is like assuming the winner of the Kentucky Derby at the top of the home stretch, or picking an apple before it is ripe. Having 10 years to go on does not support your assumptions either. Recruiting changes every year, and what happened 5 or 10 years ago has no bearing on recruiting this year. The best lesson of experience with recruiting is different than what you say. If I have learned anything from watching recruiting since I graduated, it is this. Do not even try to judge a class until the players are juniors and seniors in the program. Let the coaches do their jobs. If they don't do their jobs, they don't last. Because football is the cash cow.

Personally, I don't understand why Marrow or UofL would be interested. Just odd.

I understand why Marrow is not interested in UL. First, he is not interested in leaving UK. Then, why take a demotion from the SEC to the ACC? I imagine Brohm would crawl on his knees to Lexington to hire Marrow, but it does not matter.

A lot of that ranking is number of players committed. I saw a stat yesterday, if it were by player rankings, it would be 24th or 25th. That's a much more important stat to me. Coupled with the fact we aren't done adding players.

Ah c'mon sieken, facts just get in the way.

i am guessing you know that for a fact
please post where you got your facts from

Because it's normal to not sugar coat and live in the what-if universe.

If you know how to read speed numbers, it's really not hard to figure out the winner at the top of the stretch most years.

Sure it does. When our recruiting has been consistently below where it should be, and we don't historically add enough players late to heavily impact the overall rating, it tells you it probably won't happen now.

Seems we are having a hard time holding on to players to become Jr and Sr these days.

I mean we can go that route, but several teams ranked above us have the same amount or less, and everyone the ones below us in the top 50 has more, but sure!

So who will the final say 10 UK signees be? I missed that somehow.
Players we have to settle for because we didn't get the players we really wanted.
I disagree with your interpretation of the lessons of history, but it does not matter.
Ok

Does it somehow surprise you that Kenny and Vince would be friends? That isn't a tough map to follow. Neither is the one where Vince would be proud of Kenny for getting HC job at his Alma Mater.

Not at all. I haven't been surprised since Pitino signed a contract to coach at UofL.

I don’t follow other programs closely enough, but it seems like this happens all the time at UK. Cal used to be rumored to be going to the NBA every offense then bam, new extension. I think the same was at play with Stoops and the Auburn job. Barnhart seems to fall for it every time.

Yeah, I guess you could try and make that comparison but even you being a UL Fan can see the difference between Marrow and Pitino. And I'm not referring to their races.

You are taking my comment different than I tried to deliver it. I see why now. I was trying to emphasize in agreement with your comment that the men have a friendship. Instead of the Pitino comment, I could have said I haven't been surprised since the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor. (Animal House)

Anyone listed here that chose elsewhere to play was an offer we missed on.

I don't know who we will end up settling on when the dust settles. I know it won't likely be our first choice.
most schools make a whole lot of offers every year
that is the way recruiting works
so you can say every school misses more than they get

If you have good coaches it happens, if you have not so good coaches you let them walk if they get an offer, but not many get that offer and they end up as analysis.
