VCU Big man

His stats continue to improve. He does seem to collect a fair number of fouls.

I like Haarms, but if I'm in a street fight-style tournament game, give me the kid with a Joey Dorsey mentality over the kid with a Flock of Seagulls haircut.

You decide:

When I first crossed paths with him, he was calling himself "Blue in the Brew". He took exception to my assertion that this past season's team was one of Cal's least talented teams. I compared the talent to the 2012-2013 team. He kept trying to poke me on it, getting angrier. He finally resorted to making a racist comment about my wife, and he was banned. He came back as der g_punkt, and made it obvious he was the same guy. I called him out, he lost his composure, made another racist comment, was banned again. From there, it cycles. He makes a new account, posts a bit, makes a reference to me and the 2013 team, gets banned, and has these temper tantrums.
He's the same guy that struggled to understand how the NET rankings worked. Had a whole multi-page thread with him arguing with everyone.
**** it. Point him out and hold my blunt! Time to whip this dude’s ass! :chairshot:

6’7 is plenty big enough to play in the post in college, especially if you are 250 lbs of muscle with a 6’11 1/2 wingspan.

I am more concerned about his usual level of competition (A-10) than his size.

all I can say about him is that UK has reached out to him. Doesn't hurt that Terrence Clarke is recruiting him also.

Any word if Cal is recruiting Santos-Silva as a backup in case we miss on Haarms or does he want him regardless?

Even though Cal didn't like the platoon system, he would have enough capable players to do it again......that's if both Silva and Haarms come.

Interesting.

That would put us at 12 scholarship guys. I’m good with that.

Haarms and Santos-Silva might be a good combo. Haarms reportedly wants to play some outside, so having a bruiser inside might allow him to do that.

Info is hard to come by these days. Haarms is one of the most silent info out there ever. Tough to say if UK is in the drivers seat. As far as recruiting high schoolers, I don't have any idea on anyone of our supposed targets. But I will GUESS that we don't end up with either Brown, Kuminga, or Cisse. I do think we have a great shot at Banchero for NEXT year.

Haarms is announcing on thursday and it sounds like UK . I don't see any way we add both . With haarms we have 6 bigs .6! you play 3 sometimes 4. Yes Fletcher can play some SF but he is more a college 4 . Toppin will be eligible due to rule change so no way in hell we add 2 more bigs unless Banchero is the 2nd .

I like depth for numerous reasons. Hey, we need the bodies for damn practice. An injury is gonna happen the game is very physical. Transfers happen, you hope not but it's the way it is here. all of those are factual and very possible. Hell we had a kid need a mental break and didn't play in the florida game...how UK won that I still have no idea..ALL EFFING HEART I guess.

I've seen him play multiple times. Only 6-7, plays below the rim, not a rim protector, kinda slow...pass.
Would you say he’s more of a 4 than a 5? Could he complement a guy like Haarms and give us a very physical front court?

I wouldn’t necessarily say we have 6 “bigs”. I would say we have 6 guys that are interchangeable position wise and can play as bigs. IMO, we have Ware, Jackson and Haarms (if he commits) that are traditional type bigs. IMO, Brooks, Toppin and Fletcher are more of hybrid forward types. We have room for two more, Haarms and Silva, or whoever.

No he wouldn’t. Not to be blunt in a mean or bad way but the platoon only happened because we had 9-10 high level NBA prospects. They may not have all turned out to be lottery picks but coming out of high school for the most part they all were projected 1st round picks. That isn’t the case next year
