:baseball:Three closest major schools to KENTUCKY and all sporting pretty damn good baseball programs right now...Now ...tell me again what the excuse is for KENTUCKY not being as good or better than any of these three programs...:angry::sunglasses:

UK is a basketball only school. That's the way the AD and the fans want it.

That's why the all-mighty Matt Jones talks about basketball on his show EVERY... SINGLE... DAY... and BBN eats it up.

The culture change needs to start with BBN. You all need to start calling in to KSR and force Matty Bangs to talk about something besides what Murray had to eat for breakfast and how Briscoe likes to tie his shoes or how many times Cal sneezed today.

I call in a lot and I can assure you that I am not one of those people you speak of...Besides you are an Otis fan and the pot calling the kettle black...Your fan base s just as bad , if not worse...You obsess with Cal and UK and if you think you don't why are so many of you over here on this site...:sunglasses:

lol at the mod that removed my post.

I guess if the truth hurts, delete it...

Not a mod, but you're a clown. Most of your post was disrespectful crap...if you want to talk baseball, great. If you want to talk about how great UL is and how bad UK is, probably not the right place...also not the right place if you want to whine about balls off the foulpole.

This board is more than respectful to the UL baseball program.

I will say Rob is right on the culture of fans around here. UK is a basketball first school and the other sports just fall in line. The problem with that mentality is, the SEC as a whole is a football and baseball conference. Just look around at the facilities teams play in. That will show you where the priorities lie. Cliff Hagan Stadium and CWS compared to the rest of the conference were and are way behind the times. I really think with the right coach, the right approach and the support from Mitch and co, UK could become a force to be reckoned with in the SEC and the country.

Chicken or the egg situation.

CWS and Cliff Hagan have had some great atmospheres when teams produce...football fans have demanded more, and are receiving...baseball in the works for a new stadium in 2 years.

And if we are completely honest - UL fans do not care about baseball until its tourney time and they are good...and football has had many a empty seats even in the thick of great seasons. So his assessment of the UK fanbase being inferior was pretty inaccurate.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Kentucky is a UK state. The fans have proven that they'll support a winner, no matter the sport. You may have forgotten (with your selective memory) that A) UK took greater than 50,000 fans to bowl games in the recent past (Nashville in 2006 and 2007; Tampa in 98), B) UK fans came out in droves to support the 2006 SEC championship baseball team, and C) UK fans were raucous during the super regionals when our softball team has hosted in the last few years.

As for Matt Jones, there's no doubt he is a basketball guy, but I think he wants the football program to succeed. He supports Stoops, he has hired Freddie Maggard to be his football guy, etc. Either way, Matt Jones is not the UK fanbase

This is true. The UL fanbase is small and it's fickle. There really are very few UL fans outside of Jefferson county, and even that county is at least 40-45% blue.

Also, Jurich is corrupt in every way, including the attendance reports. I have seen thousands of empty seats in PJCS, but they are magically reported as hard sellouts. Don't buy it. UL will never have the support that UK (or other big-time schools) enjoy.

UL baseball.....they only charge admission to the UK game, all others (minus NCAA tourney related games) are free! And you still can't average more than 2k fans? Ok.

Now UL's coach, I respect him and wish we tried to get him before UL ended up in the ACC.

I never saw his post that was deleted so to that I have no comment. I think UK fans, at least most, want all sports to succeed and compete for championships. But, I also believe there is a large number of fans that only care about basketball and could give two cents wether or not the baseball team plays on a dirt field. Is Kentucky moving in the right direction? Absolutely. Are we there yet? No.

I disagree with putting this on the backs of the BBN. Reality is that UK has had several very good teams (or talented teams) that didn't fare well when they had the opportunity. I'd agree that the BBN should be more vocal in their disappointment with the direction of the baseball program but the administration shouldn't be so blind, regardless of how vocal the fans are.
UK got screwed playing in Gary several years ago, they should have hosted that regional, but the stadium was the same for everybody. I can chalk that up as bad luck.
The loss in the regional a couple years ago, not starting our ace, losing game one and having to claw and scratch to stay alive was just flat stupid. The program needs to be scrutinized very closely because IMO it's not going the right direction and hasn't been for a few years now.
