Vanderbilt stadium mess - why don't they just play at the Titans stadium this season?

I saw that the Vandy stadium is an absolute mess of an ongoing construction project in both the end zones. There is a suitable NFL stadium across town that is likely available on Saturdays.

I’m guessing Vandy found out that a deal with the Titans would cost it more money than it was worth.

It was worst stsfium in SEC before the construction, now is a nightmare. I'm parking in Centinial park and walking the half mile to stadium. Good luck finding parking

Does sound annoying but hey, I'd gladly trade places with you. Got roped into going to a concert this weekend for a friend's birthday and would rather be cheering on the Cats regardless of stadium and parking. Go Big Blue!

I agree, but honestly I suspect they draw so little that the presence of construction really doesn't reduce their attendance and gate receipts. Conversely, paying the Titans organization some type of rental or percentage from the gate would syphon more dollars from their cash flow.

Folks at Vandy can add and subtract, if they thought they could sell out a NFL venue, they would be all over it.

I recommend a blue and white hard hat [smoke]

GBB!

I doubt they will even sell out for tomorrows game and the place currently holds a little over 23,000. It would be horrible TV optics to put those in a 70,000 seat stadium. Vandy would lose money on that deal. 50,000 empty seats would look atrocious!

Tennessee State already plays there.
Good information, although if they thought it through, they maybe could have figured out a way to have two college games on a Saturday (noon kickoff for one, 7:00 for the other). I am sure there are many Saturdays when one team is on the road while the other is at home. Obviously this is all hypothetical, because bigger brains than mine have determined that playing in a mess is a better way to go.

Its not like the number of their fans are hurt or out of a seat despite both end zones demolished

Vandy never sold it out under the old configuration. The seats in the south end zone that are gone were for students, who didn't come anyway. So it is really no big deal. It is listed at 28,500 for this year.

Renting Nissan Stadium would be expensive. They would lose money in the deal. And as mentioned, Tennessee State also plays games there, so on some weekends it wouldn't be available.

If it is anything like the Benz for the Falcons, who was going to charge the GHSA 600k a day rental, yet allowed pro soccer to use free. This after threatening to leave town if the state didn't build him a new stadium.

Other poster is correct about TSU already playing home games there.
Additionally, Vandy is a glorified home game for opposing SEC teams. It will be more than 50% blue today. I haven’t looked at their home schedule, but Nashville is a destination city for a weekend getaway and SEC fans flock to Nashville in Sept and Oct to watch their team play Vandy. November doesn’t produce more Vandy fans, but rainy days just result in a a half empty stadium. They’re not paying money for more opposing fans or empty seats.

They do sneak up and upset 1-2 SEC teams a year. We need to take care of business today.

I saw how pitifully few home fans there were.
