I would like to see the administration make it a point to do upgrades to the stadium and facilities every five years. How hard would it be to raise funds in between renovations? Instead of one big lump sum like we just had, how about smaller amounts in 5 year increments?

Well the new found SEC money adds about 30-35 million more per year to our budget. 22 million of it is already spoken for to pay the loans for the recent renovations and new practice facility. There will be 8 to 12 million a year for yearly upgrades for different pet projects. I see our sports facilities becoming among best around.

Maybe, but doesn't every other SEC school get the same money? At least we should be able to keep up with them.

Its not juat about keeping up with the SEC, ae may never do that. It's about being ahead of the other conferences. We can out recruit most teams in the big 10. Its about getting those ohio kids to choose us over mochigan state and wisconsin and Nebraska

Yes all the SEC teams get the same. Also Ky's football program is the only one in the league that gives money back to the university for academics. All the football programs carry all the other sports but UK also shares the money with academics. Even our New CWS financing they included a new science center and I believe a new dorm. That was the problem for so many years that we where behind the rest of the league. The SEC Network was a god send for all of us die hard football fans that wanted a commitment to football. Mitch Barnhart was between a rock and hard place until the new money became available. He couldn't call out the president and come out and say we need to keep the money from football for football. I spent 18 years as a project manager for a large commercial construction company and I recall sitting in a budget meeting at a university "not UK" but they where discussing building a new library. All the while their most critical need was a new physical plant and sewer facility's. When a asst to the president brought up their more critical needs the president answered by saying "no one wants their name on a shit house". Yes they built a library and put off their critical needs. My point being this stuff happens more than you think.
