“Kerr had his first day in the weight room, doing conditioning and strength training yesterday,” Pope said. “Our goal is to make that so unpleasant that he’s like, ‘I’m getting back on the court.'”
Seeing how fast Butler came back and the positive update on Kerr, I’m convinced Calipari kept healthy guys out on purpose to protect them. There were so many vague, seemingly minor injuries, that kept guys out for way too long. I understand if you have an actual injury, but if you’re 20 years old, come on man get your ass on the court lol. You would’ve had to shoot me to keep me out of just a pickup game when I was that age.
Most people paying attention were very convinced that Cal kept players out of the game for various reasons including "injuries". He didn't care about the success of the UK basketball team.Seeing how fast Butler came back and the positive update on Kerr, I’m convinced Calipari kept healthy guys out on purpose to protect them. What a refreshing change a pace from “ I haven’t seen him”
Another Cat I had all but forgotten about. He definitely tried playing thru that injury as best I can remember. The assembly line Cal created was insane. The only injury I really didn't question was Vanderbilt's (the dude had documented surgery, and sat out most of his rookie season in the pros and people were still like "he's faking it!") and Tyty's. Ty actually tried to play through that and Cal had to sit him. Dude was limping trying to run up the court.
Yeah, I don't miss that part about Cal AT ALL.
Cal absolutely sacrificed team success for the financial well-being of his players. Not even debatable and I'm ashamed that none of the media called him out on it.Seeing how fast Butler came back and the positive update on Kerr, I’m convinced Calipari kept healthy guys out on purpose to protect them. I don’t miss ANYTHING about cal. At all! 🤣The only injury I really didn't question was Vanderbilt's (the dude had documented surgery, and sat out most of his rookie season in the pros and people were still like "he's faking it!") and Tyty's. I miss old Cal. The Cal when we were winning and all having fun. Cal when he was hungry and somewhat humble. The Cal that called us crazy (and meant it with love). That Cal I've missed for a looooooong time. Would even be nice to see him at an out of conference program doing well. But no. We're stuck having to deal with his antics in conference and it's just gotten old.I don’t miss ANYTHING about cal. At all! 🤣
Anyone who follows basketball from high school up realized that Cal wasn't being a straight shooter. When one his guys was slightly injured, the player never even came back during the game to give it a go. It didn't matter how slight the injury. It is amazing how Cal was able to brain wash many of these kids. It had to be brain washing because these kids had to have known they were being handled far differently than anything they had experienced in their extremely long basketball history.Seeing how fast Butler came back and the positive update on Kerr, I’m convinced Calipari kept healthy guys out on purpose to protect them. I don't miss him. I never liked the guy and other than being old and lazy, he is the same guy he has always been. He was just viewed differently because the team was winning.I miss old Cal. Money, or the thought of getting it, makes one do a lot of things they normally would convince people they wouldn't do.Anyone who follows basketball from high school up realized that Cal wasn't being a straight shooter. Cal was more of an agent than he ever was a coach.Cal absolutely sacrificed team success for the financial well-being of his players. Not even debatable and I'm ashamed that none of the media called him out on it.
Well said. The guy revealed his true colors when he stated that he was glad winning the national championship was over. That is just something that NO ONE, who has respect for the program they are coaching for, would ever say.I don't miss him. I never liked the guy and other than being old and lazy, he is the same guy he has always been. He was just viewed differently because the team was winning.

I’m convinced that half the time there weren’t injuries anyways and it was internal turmoil or creating an excuse for poor personal performance.Seeing how fast Butler came back and the positive update on Kerr, I’m convinced Calipari kept healthy guys out on purpose to protect them. Or a kid who sees a minor injury as potentially ending his dream of playing in the NBA so he opts out over a sprained ankle. What a refreshing change a pace from “ I haven’t seen him”
That Cal lasted at UK MAYBE 5 years, but I think it was more like 3.5. Then we had 10+ years of him not doing any coaching and mostly just focusing on getting players to the NBA.I miss old Cal. I absolutely believe this is what was going on.I’m convinced that half the time there weren’t injuries anyways and it was internal turmoil or creating an excuse for poor personal performance.
Too often it was a hyped up draft pic that had been underperforming…they’d miss a week or 2 for an “ankle” and then come back and play about the same as they had previously but the narrative would be “he just wasn’t the same after the injury/he’s been dealing w an injury all year” and the evidence would be ppl pointing to a single anomaly game or 2 games out of 10-15 where they shot above their season average pre injury
