GREG SANKEY

He covered a lot of ground laying out the past year in the SEC, the challenges of COVID-19, the issues facing the NCAA and college football and other big topics. I would recommend you take a half hour to watch it at some point.

Notably, he indicated that there shouldn't be so much enforcement focus on the "bump rule" in high school recruiting. He said coaches should be able to interact with players in those off campus settings.

About half of the league's football programs have reached 80% vaccinated status.

Asked about the SEC's lack of a conference-wide drug policy Sankey said that has been an ongoing conversation within the league. But still no change.

FLORIDA

Dan Mullen was very optimistic about Emory Jones at quarterback. He noted they lost a lot of skill talent but believes they return more than they're getting credit for. Adapting to change and building around his players' strengths is going to be key.

He said he's very pleased with the attitude and energy of the guys on defense. They will rotate a lot of players.

Said the goals would be to reach Atlanta and make it to the College Football Playoff after three straight New Years Six bowl games.

Mullen really does have a track record of tweaking his offense and building around different players and he was clearly playing that up talking about the change from Kyle Trask to Emory Jones.

Asked if it's harder to win a title now than when he was at Florida back in '07-08 Mullen said the league is probably better now. That was right around the start of the league becoming preeminent.

On the 12-team playoff Mullen didn't express much of an opinion. He does believe there will be some kind of expansion in the future.

Said the new NIL issues are a learning curve. They're adapting to a new law in the state. Mullen said he's excited for the players and it's great for them. They had a team meeting about it this morning. The learning curve will last a good while.

Mullen said they were erratic at times defensively but other times they played very well. In some games they played well but were not statistically great. You might have to play a different style of game to take chances because they were going to score points.

LSU

Had a lot of praise for Sankey getting the conference through the last football season.

Says they have two quarterbacks who can win a championship and it will be a battle. Tremendous wide receivers. Emphasis was on shaking up the secondary and coverage situation.

Doesn't expect to see another Joe Burrow. For the type of offense LSU is going to run, Oregon says, they can run it effectively.

Orgeron says this is the best incoming defensive line class they have had.

Would not talk about anything related to the lawsuit he has been named a defendant in.

Adam Luckett asked Oregeron about Dare Rosenthal. Talked about his recruitment. Thought he had the potential to be a first round draft choice. He can be one and done.

SOUTH CAROLINA

Beamer seemed comfortable in front of the camera and crowd.

Says good young talent at QB position but it's very young. Noted Kevin Harris' season. Offensive line has great experience. Lot of excitement about the WR position. Says they're very deep but it's unproven.

Will be an attacking defense. His dad told him if you're good on the lines and in the kicking game you have a chance to be successful and he believes this team can win for that reason. Talked a lot about special teams emphasis.

Asked about his father he's proud of him but does have a chip on his shoulder to prove himself. Remembered Alabama reaching out to his dad when he was at VT. But from his time at the Citadel he often talked about how South Carolina had great potential.
