University 6 looking at the death penalty

I disagree Bob. If U of L doesn't get the death penalty at this point, there's no sense in it being an option. You're talking multiple scandals under the SAME head coach. Serious scandals. They're essentially daring the NCAA to kill the program.

kyups1, North Carolina is gonna get absolutely hammered IMO. They've totally failed to take responsibility for their issues. Hell, they basically told the NCAA yeah, the classes were fake, and it's none of your business.

GBB!!!
Wow, ACC gonna get hammered financially

I very much suspect that when Louisville is arguing to the NCAA that it shouldn't receive the death penalty, the focus will not be athletics. You'll have the mayor and other civic leaders saying our arena is already in bad trouble, if you cancel the next season or two, the arena will go bankrupt and downtown Louisville will be crippled and may never recover.

I know we're all UK fans, but honestly:

1) they should shut down their program for one year

2) Fire Pitino and Jurich

3) Banner and Final four banner gone (that'll happen)

4) three years banned from the NCAA tournament once their one year is up

5) limit scholarships to ten per season during this time.

This is what should happen

Rick said he shocked at this news and those responsible will be held accountable. His next call was to his attorney to tell their annuity guy that he has 2 more former coaches to be put on the dole for their silence like McGee .

It won't work in this case.

Ignoring an NCAA request for information, or lying to an NCAA investigator = So what? The NCAA can not force anyone to cooperate
Ignoring a Federal subpoena, or lying to an FBI agent = Jail

Paying someone off to not cooperate with the NCAA = Illegal, but difficult for them to prove
Paying someone off to not cooperate with a Federal investigation = Witness tampering = jail, and lots of it.

I'll wear this to the execution!

LOL, JLOAD's turnaround time is impressive.

NCAA will likely have a field Day with UL simply because they disregarded their previous findings and pretty much trashed the NCAA to the media. It’s similar to what SMU did to get it, they committed primary violations once and got caught but basically snubber their nose at the NCAA and committed even more. Good riddance if they do get it. Been a long time coming.

Yep...their concern won't be with the NCAA this time...it's BIG BROTHER and I'm not talking about UK!

With today's news that U6 has gotten themselves involved in yet another scandal, it's probably safe to say they won't be playing basketball in a couple of years. Hell, U6 hasn't even had their previous scandal dealt with as of yet.

Longer term, you have to wonder who U6 will be able to hire to coach in that shit factory! I honestly think U6 is looking at the death penalty, and that will probably be followed up with heavy scholarship restrictions.

This could be the end of U6 basketball as we know it.

GBB!!!

How many banners will be coming down and when????

anyway, to focus on this (so much going on here I'm distracted like a monkey on speed, heh).....looks like there are two conditions that have to be met before the death penalty can be considered (first two bullit points). Louisville clearly meets the first one. Does it meet the second? What is the "starting date of the penalty assessed in the first case"? Technically, you can't start the penalty phase until the appeals process is completed, but that can't be what is meant. That would be a loophole big enough for a truck to drive through....
It is probably significant that UL did not appeal its probation. They only appealed the vacated title and financial penalties. They were on probation when this occurred, as the one guy in the indictment admitted.

One thing that can't be understated is this a FBI criminal investigation. The ole take one for my head coach code of silence routine just went out the door. These smucks are looking at serious jail time. There are going to be a whole lot of canaries ready to sing.

UL might as well stop paying all those legal fees with the appeal. Might even withdraw it

The death penalty seems to be a real possibility. But, that is a rare penalty and it really hurts the NCAA, other teams and conferences. So, I am doubting that is the result.

I would settle for a three year postseason ban. That would set them back a few years.

None of the UL coaches are indicted defendants.

Why would the NCAA care about those arguments? That's the city of Louisville's problem, not theirs.

You don't think all those other sports programs are getting good for no reason do you? :sunglasses:
6) Shut down baseball

7) Shut down football

8) Shut down dorm and party gun shots

10) Shut down brothel hours to a minimum except on holidays

11) Shut down women's basketball

12) Shut down discrimination law suits

13) Shut down corrupt fraudulent foundation

Don't agree. That's the way it should be perhaps, but politics will enter into this. The NCAA took a tremendous amount of criticism for the way it handled the Penn State situation, and that's just one example. I think the NCAA is sensitive to criticism these days - so in the end it will just be a matter of which way the winds are blowing. If the arena goes belly up, downtown looks deserted and snakebit for a generation......do people notice that? I mean, nationally, not just in Louisville. If it is noticed, how is it portrayed and perceived? If the general thinking is unsympathetic, that Louisville got what it deserved, then they'll give them the death penalty. If there is a hint that the thinking is the NCAA was unduly harsh and deserves criticism for crippling a school and even a town....the finger will be up in the air, and will impact the ultimate call......

Perhaps they have already done some singing?

As to the death penalty, I see it as unlikely given the damage it would do the ACC.

But, my God, the Louisville Assistant Coach is caught on wire by the F.B.I. actually referencing the need for caution in handling the money, because his University is already on probation!!!!

Not sure singing keeps you off an indictment or a criminal complaint; however, Postel acted like there is an ongoing criminal investigation into UL sports.
