Unfortunately, we are now a bubble team.

With no real quality wins and some really bad losses, we are going to have to step it up and finish strong. This one hurts with that 21 point lead. Front court is non existent, beside Poy sometimes. Really, really bad stuff. F*ck

Unranked and probably going to lose at Florida, South Carolina and maybe Nashville, along with a certain loss at College Station.

Sad effort by everyone involved.

6 of 9 on the road with a non conference gm at KU will do that to a team.
We will awaken at Rupp with 5 of 9 there to end the season.

Going to end up on the bubble for sure. 20-11 record and 4th or worse in the SEC is rarely a NCAA tourney team

We hit 12 losses, it will take a miracle. 11 and we're fine. 12 May be too much

Not yet. Top 30 RPI with a top 30 non-conference strength of schedule is not really close to the bubble. Not implying we don't end up there, but not presently close.
Top 30 non conference schedule is nice but you have to beat someone with a pulse within that non conference schedule to make it mean anything. We have lost to 5 unranked teams. That's terrible.

No way. Come back to me when they drop a home game or two. They aren't even close to the bubble right now. Every team outside the top 10 or so has some nasty warts on their resumes.

We beat Duke at full strength and Louisville. Not a huge OOC resume but better then you are implying.

Cats are 3-1 against the top 50 and have 7 top 100 wins. I didn't create the metric, but this is not presently the resume of a bubble team. The selection committee could not care less about the AP or Coaches Polls and they decide who goes dancing.

Fair point but Duke is definitely not Duke. But good win against UL, yes. Our losses are very bad though. I do think we will get in. At that point, anything can happen.

Kansas
Duke
UNC
Arizona
U name it has bad losses Kansas still in top five and they lost three out of four games. They still have some tough games left too

Right now our bad losses out weight our good wins. The duke win doesn't mean jack now and the L'ville win is the only one we have going for us. Hopefully we can pull one off at A&M cause that's all the help that's left in conference.

I used to think we had a pretty basketball savvy fan base but posts like these just make me cringe and change my mind. UK is nowhere close to the bubble right now. But sure, they could play their way there.

Could not agree more....I know we have savvy followers, unfortunately I think most of them are not bored or stupid enough to come on this site or any other to participate....I keep thinking I am going to stop doing this....I think your comments may be enough to get me to to shake my head and not come back

We beat a dUKe team with Jefferson. We also beat UL that beat UNC.

I had an uncle that was an idiot, he would have thought the same thing.

I think it will b hard for us to get in, Coach Cal and team under performing! I hope I eat crow, but its easy to say, sad coach dosent never make an adjustment.

What should he adjust for Einstein? Our missed shots or turnovers, or their made shots?

The thing what is going to hurt Kentucky is bad losses. They haven't beaten anyone good and the lack of defense. they can't guard anybody. UT looked like the better team.

The NIT bid is looking likely if they lose a home game.

No, we're not a bubble team. Not right now. However, we could play ourselves onto the bubble very easily. We've still got a lot of tough games left, especially on the road. If we play like we did last night, we'll lose at Texas A&M, Florida, Vandy, and possibly S. Carolina. I'm not 100% sure we beat LSU at home. Do I think we'll lose all of those games? No. Not if we get our crap together, but with this team, you never know what you're going to get.

So you've got them in the worse possible scenario, with UK losing every remaining road game and at least one home game?

I've got them finishing at 22-9 going into the SEC Tourney. If they split in the SEC Tourney, they'd be 23-10 on Selection Sunday.

It would take an utter collapse (a few losses at Rupp, all remaining road games, and en early bounce from SEC Tourney) for Kentucky to miss the NCAA Tourney. It's not impossible, but it's unlikely.

You make it sound like the rest of the country isn't losing these road games. They are. UK isn't unique. All the current panic is overplayed and negligent of the realities of the rest of college basketball right now.

In a normal college basketball season, you'd be correct, but teams like LSU are still in the tournament right now because college basketball is horrible this year and the top teams are all staring back with 3 to 4 losses each.

On Selection Sunday, there might be 1 or 2 teams with less than 5 total losses. Then there's going to be 20 to 25 teams with 6 to 9 losses. That's a sign of really bad basketball on a national level. Some call it parity, but it's really just a sign of there being no really great teams this season.

All 4 road games are brutal. Vandy. Florida just knocked off WVA at home....we rarely win in the swamp,
Vandy is toughest home court in the league. They are really good there and will view our game as a resume must. A&M is the best team in the league....USC is over rated but well coached and tough at home. If we win one of those and all 5 home games we are ok....a really tough hole after losing at Auburn and UT

The problem is we're losing games to very BAD teams.

This.

We have losses to teams with an RPI with of:
KU #4 (I would qualify this as a good loss to a good opponent)
UCLA #68
LSU #72
OSU #81
UT #99
AUB #110

Our best RPI win is against #25 Duke. If we can get a win/s against Texas A&M and/or Florida who are both in the top 20, that would go a long way.

Those are some really bad losses. I do get your point @Son_Of_Saul where other teams are losing, too. But there is no denying this team has work to do and has to finish the season strong to get in.

Agree.

We will win 2 of the four games you referenced, maybe 3 of them. Mark my post and blast me later.

Win based on what? We've lost to Auburn and now Tenn who are far worse.

Certain
@ Florida = L
@ A&M = L

Probable
@ USC where we have a history of playing bad with our best teams against lousy teams
@ Vandy where we've historically struggled to win regardless

Unless this team pulls its collective head out of its ass and plays defense, four more road L's are a certainty.

We've got another L waiting in the SEC-T and a slip up at home and we're in definite trouble.

Vandy is terrible. The CATS easily win that road game. I think they win at USCjr as well. Aggies will be tough at home but not Kansas tough so that is a winnable game. Florida looks more like a loss to me due to nature of Swamp and the way the team is reacting currently. I don't see the CATS dropping a game at home.

Yes, folks, we have fallen to bubble status. We don't just have bad losses, we have awful losses. Auburn, Tennessee and Ohio State just plain stink. And UCLA and LSU are only mediocre.

And, unfortunately, what was supposed to be our quality win--over Duke--has turned out not to be such a Q win, because it seems Duke just plain isn't very good this year. The win over UL is looking like the only significant selling point we have on our resume. If we don't get our act together we could be in some trouble on selection sunday.
