unc has given the ncaa a case of cheating so bad that they couldn't give swift penalty.

who started this network of cheating? when did it REALLY start? who or what (organizations, civil or authoritative) perpetuated the cheating? how can we keep them from cheating given this scandal broke while we were already punishing them for cheating? these are not easy to answer. think how blatantly criminal unc is. it's almost like being in shock by a deliberately stupid criminal.

where i blame the ncaa is painting these cheaters in a decent light, allowing them to participate for championships without hindrence and actually HELPING them reach the late rounds of these tournaments with favorable refereeing. it's so bad i'm not even caring that it's at our expense right now. the scandal was the easiest case of lack of institutional control there has ever been. but that in and of itself was not sufficient punishment. yet that is no excuse. so they are to blame too.

but this is about chapel hill, and tobacco road, and the level of corruption so pervasive and unopologetic that it in my mind actually gives this nation a black eye. it's above sports. and it took away from many "athletes" the chance at a top notch education. it took more than the eligibility they required to make sure they could compete. it took from them the right to participate in meritocracy. it perpetuates the easy way out for all these "student" athletes, and worst of all it took from them their dignity and ability to learn.

i could go on and on about the ncaa and will again soon (they are a business though and making money is what they do, immoral as it may be). and there is still an noa floating out there. but right now i just want to say to the university of north carolina:

SHAME ON YOU. you are really no more evolved now than you were when your university was established in the 18th century. YOU ARE AN EMBARRASSMENT

People associated with UNC have clearly adopted the old George Costanza rule of "It's not a lie if you believe it".

It's utterly sickening!

True. I have some acquaintances who live in NC. They were jubilant about the win and actually called out the refs for being against them.

Winning is all that matters anymore. We're truly a Godless society now. Integrity is as rare as a Big Foot sighting.

When facing a scandal as big as this when there was obviously improprieties going on it certainly is the fault of the NCAA. No reason for an investigation to go on this long. If I recall they at first let UNC investigate themselves and report their findings which is a big freaking joke. This thing would have been settled well before now if the NCAA put UNC on probation pending the full outcome of the investigation. There were more than enough facts known to warrant doing so.

We need a new episode on Myth Busters about " Cheaters never prosper." UNCheat has given enough evidence to prove that statement is just an old wives tale.

If this scandal had broken at UK,UNLV Miss, or any one of countless other schools they wouldn't have been playing in the NCAAT (let alone winning games) over the past two or three years. The NCAA would have found a way to conclude their investigation and move on

Syracuse and ND were investigated and sanctioned and the NCAA moved on,UL's situation poses a bit of a problem for the NCAA because it is still ongoing, serious and involves national titles. Some will say that the scandal is too big to handle in a reasonable time compared to others but if that is the case the NCAA should be working day and night to resolve it for the integrity of college basketball. If it is too big for the NCAA to handle then why do they exist as an organization to oversee college sports.

There's a mountain of evidence and it shouldn't take this long to figure out, Carolina has been to two championship games in two years while under investigation. That alone should burn the NCAA up, showing them and everybody that you prosper if you cheat and fight it with money and denial.

What's happening now is just a reflection of the moral bankruptcy at UNC. Most schools would have self-sanctioned long ago. Even UL imposed penalties upon itself.

UNC is too morally bankrupt to self-impose any penalties for its 20 years of cheating.
