It does however bring up a point.
99% of the out of conference games happen at the beginning of the year. From that we determine who the best conference is.

I always wondered if those things change throughout the season but we don't pick it up until March during the tournament.

This year the SEC is clear cut better. Maybe one of the best conferences in recent history. It's just one of those things I've thought about in the past when people said oh this conference is the best only for those teams to perform awful in March. It's hard to tell since March is such a short sample but just something I was thinking about.
