with all due respect to wall and knight. tyler ullis is the best point guard cal has had at uk. plays the position the way it's supposed to be played.

always in control of the tempo. sees things before they happen. sets others up. makes the tough basket when needed.

Wall is better. Ulis has the advantage of playing multiple years to impress people more and pad his stats more. That said, he won't ever have a season close to Wall's one season. I'd say #2 for Tyler though as Knight was way more of a combo guard.

wall's assits record was inflated. kyle macy was calling the game questioned some plays as assits

Still early. Ty looked great under the big lights running the show.

wall was not a natural point guard at uk. he was also surrounded by a lot more talent. ullis is better in every measurable you look for on offense.

may not be as good defensively, but gives more consistent effort than wall did on that end which gives him the nod there too.

Tyler just seems so fluid out there. It looks like the game just comes so easily for him and he sees things before they even happen. Wall might be the best overall pg Cal has had but Ulis is a very close second in my opinion.

Lets get Tyler through this season first as this is HIS year, last year was Andrews year.
However, good God, how many of our fans are going to misspell his name? His last name doesn't have 2 L's in it.

You can't compare the two. Tyler is a 5'8" 155 lb pass first pg. Wall is the most freakishly gifted athlete ky has ever had.

Point #1: red sweater, nice edit... :)
Point #2: Ulis is a great "floor general." You're not going to steal the ball from him. He'll make baskets when you need him to, but he's not John Wall. If that team had won the championship, they'd be known as the best team in college basketball history. I'd argue that they still are. Anyway, it's a moot point.

Ulis is good, and I LOVED hearing the announcers tonight come RELUCTANTLY to the realization that Ulis will play in the NBA, comparing him to Muggsy.:sunglasses:

Ulis is a more polished point guard as a sophomore three games into the season than Wall as a freshman three games into the season. If Tyler keeps up that level of play, he will become the focus of the opposing defense. We'll have to see how he performs with that sort of attention.

I will say if Tyler attracts that sort of attention, Murray and Briscoe will have very satisfying years.

Silliness. I love Tyler, but he is definitely a notch below Wall and Knight

as a former point guard, that will make tyler that much better.

Ulis isn't as talented as some of our previous PG's but he runs the team better than any of them.

No comparison needed for me. I'm just glad that Ulis is the floor general on THIS team.

I've said for a long time Ulis is what Cal and UK need. It doesn't matter if wall was more talented. Wall was put out in the elite eight. Ulis has already done more.

Ulis plays the position the way it's meant to be played. This is college, not the NBA.

I'm sorry but he's not a notch below Brandon Knight. Knight was a stud here but Ulis is special. He's something we haven't seen here. A team oriented floor general who doesn't make mistakes.

Ulis is under control. He is an extension of the coach. He plays defense. He makes people better. He is fantastic. I have 100% confidencewhen he has the ball. Best PGA under Cal.

Jay Bilas had a great quote on Ulis during the game "If you're good enough, you're big enough" to play. Tyler has been great so far.

John Wall did not set up teammates. I don't even know why people here can argue he was better than Ulis at the point. Ulis is a pure point guard, a coach's dream. He is the best PG I've seen at UK in MANY MANY years.

If Ulis was 6'4 and playing like this he would be on the cover of SI monthly.
He will just continue to shock the world all the way to #9.

Uh, Wall was outstanding setting his teammates up, are you for real?. I think you need to go back and watch. He was dropping dimes like crazy that whole year.

John Wall. A sophomore John Wall would have been the best player in the country.

Come to think of it, freshman John Wall was the best player in the country.

If you want to say "per inch" or "pound for pound," I'll give you Ulis.

As I agree Ulis is the best True PG floor general Cal has ever had. You do know that wall as a freshman broke all the assist records at UK don't you. Wall started all this glory we are enjoying this very day. He was the trend setter for everything calipari+UK

I couldn't agree more after last night's game.

Ulis GETS that you're better off not forcing it to "make a play." It may be that he has so many other guys that can make a play when it's not there for him. But, when he looks for his opening, and it's not there--he doesn't turn it over. A lot of PG's in the past tried to force it and turned the ball over. Not turning it over and letting Murray make the play>>>>trying to force it, and having the ball go to Duke.

Let's see how ulis does this year. But wall is hands down best point guard I have watched at UK. And I just doubt anyone can match what he did at this point.
