While being coach of UofSmell, RP clearly stated his affinity for UK by calling it Camelot which is totally opposite of what is coming out of Ulis. Ulis could have carried out the functions of his invisible coaching job without taking shots at Big Blue. Since he chose otherwise, he should not be welcomed back to UK. Finally, his action is worse than Reed because at least he wore both colors equally.

He is an employee of the University of Arkansas now. I would expect nothing different. He has to live with the fans there and they pay his salary.

Now, Reed Shepherd is another thing. His loyalty to John Calipari over the university/state is interesting although I have nothing against him choosing to support them over UK. People don’t think the same way that I do - it doesn’t make them evil or bad. With his parents being true blue, I was surprised at his support for Arkansas, but stranger things have happened I guess.

Let's not forget who it was that put all of these former players into this awkward position in the first place.

Cal already has amassed over $100 million in career earnings. Even if he only has 50% of that remaining, he could have lived off the interest alone and taken the ambassador job at $1 million/year. Not a bad gig to promote our program for the next coach - pressure free and truly within his skillset.

Instead, he chose the pathway of greed and pride and ended up creating a Civil War within the former player community.

Let us never forget the real reason all of this happened.

Cal bailed him out by giving him a job after ulis had some things go wrong and perhaps involved in questionable decision making.

Your point is well taken and articulated. However, please never compare Reed Shepherd or Tyler Ulis with Scott Padgett. You are comparing a one year wonder who lost to Oakland and a kid who had a a very nice career (put up 6 points & 1 assist in a FF loss to Wisconsin) to UK royalty. In fact, I’d dare say, don’t compare them to the sacrifice Sean Woods made either.

I have no problem with Dwight Perry or Steve Masiello comparisons.

When Ulis's coaching days at Arkansas are over, the Arkansas fans couldn't care less about him. If Ulis would have stayed true to UK he could have probably been elected governor here if he wanted it.

I think people forget that as fans we've been supporting this program for a long time through the good and the bad.

Players and specifically the Coach Cal era yes as players they have a bond with the University none of us got to experience. But end of the day they likely didn't grow up a Kentucky fan. They have 1 year as a Wildcat and that is it. Being a new fan of a team after 19+ of age is way different than being born into it.

😂 The horror of an ex-player liking the color red. I believe that any Kentucky fan who drives a car that isn't Kentucky blue should be tarred and feathered. The house better be Kentucky blue as well and NEVER should any real UK fan ever ever wear red!!! As I write this, I am considering contacting the maintenance staff to paint the wall in my office to UK blue! It is currently a shade of red. I am sick, sick, sick!

I would need context for the quote before I read to much into it. If he was on the radio show and the host said something like "Now tell us Tyler which color do you prefer red or blue?" then what is he supposed to say? He is employed by Arkansas and if he was put on the spot didn't have much of a choice.

I hate the color red and always have. I don't own even one red shirt. I've just never liked it. Never had to wear it in sports and don't root for a team that is red. (Sorry Reds fans, baseball is the only sport I never played so I obviously don't watch it.)

Ulis played under Cal for 2 years and has coached under him for a few more. He's got a close personal relationship with him at this point. All of you would value a relationship like that over being a fan of a basketball team.

Not to mention Ulis is trying to further his career. Again, none of you would put some blind allegiance to UK over your future career prospects. If you wanted to get a PhD and were offered a place to do so at Arkansas after graduating from UK would you have turned it down because it's Arkansas? No. That's all Ulis is doing, trying to further his career.

Can you all stop whining and realize there's more to life than the UK basketball team?
