Camp was not ran very well for $90.00. Scheduled 8:30-11:30 AM. Started at 8:40, ended at 11:05. Stretched for at least 20 minutes. Come on man, it's camp. Play ball. Roughly 50 campers divided up between 3 coaches (student managers) and only used 3 hoops when 8 were available. Obviously more hoops=more reps. My sons "coach" didn't coach anyone in the group for two hours. Tyler and most of the team were there and shot on the baskets casually on the other 5 hoops.
Camp would've been GREAT had the players and Tyler simply walked around and mingled with the campers and helped with drills.
To ease the cost a bit all players signed autographs and took photos (minus Diallo, Knox, and Wynard simply because they were not in attendance).
Not a knock on the players by any means, but the camp director needs to put a little effort in his planning if you're going to call something Tyler Ulis Playmakers Camp. Nix or minimize stretching. Maximize your reps for the kids by using all hoops. Get more involvement from your "coaches" and be enthused.
And assuming the other practice gym was available, use it during 5 v 5 instead of having kids sit out for 15 minutes.
But....all of the players that my son approached were super nice, as was Tyler. And I absolutely agree that these are the kind of kids Cal recruits. Maybe they don't get it when they first arrive on campus, but by the time they leave, they are well-rounded young men.
