disadvantage. On an eight month school year, UL pays $650 monthly, TN pays $708 and Mississippi State pays $641 while we pay $450. As someone who's done selling at times in my life, I would say UL's recruiting pitches might include the following: 1.) those people in Lexington don't value you as a person, but we do. We pay you $200 more per month. 2.) The SEC pays them like $29 million a year, but do they give you, the athlete a fair share-no. They keep it for high salaries for their AD and coaches. We treat you right. We'll give you $1,600 more per school year. That's extra money for dates, or eating out or for sending money back to your mom.
Now Mitch says "I want people basing decisions to come to Kentucky on the great people we have... not on what we can put in their pocket." Now correct me if I'm wrong, but seems to me he was wanting to run off to become Kansas' AD a few years ago FOR MORE MONEY.
Now I understand that supposedly schools have to prove that their computations are valid and are based on USDA guidelines. But if Auburn can pay almost twice what Alabama is going to pay, then someone is cooking the books at Auburn and UL. At least sic the USDA police on your competition or review how they are beating our butts and revise our stipend amount.
