UK vs Ohio St Game Thread

Reminded of when Joe B took his final four Cats on sightseeing tour in San Diego then promptly lost.

Said he learned from that and it culminated in 78 title.

KY 31 points below there average , Pope hasn’t made many adjustments and has been sitting down a lot too. Wonder if he wants to lose to send a message to his players

I think he's longing for some real talent next year.

Were going to have, at minimum, four recruits ranked higher than anyone on this team. And that doesn't include Caleb Wilson, other potentially recruits, or transfers.

Worst defensive performance this team has had. Bad on the perimeter and slow to cover drives to the basket. Maybe they had a little too much fun in NYC in the days leading up to the game. Should always approach it as a business trip!

OSU played well above their level and us way below. Gonna have those games, just have to put it behind you and respond! Unlike many on this board, the team can’t let the result become a cancer.

Speaking of musicals like Hamilton, this UK team feels more like a top 5 understudy than a legitimate top 5 team.

We probably finish the season ranked outside the top 20, and I'm okay with that provided that we start to show some CONSISTENT fight. This team is way too bipolar.

He changed defense several times and offense has had open looks and layup, just can't hit

They sleep walked into the Duke game.
They sleep walked into the Clemson game.
They sleep walked into the Gonzaga game.
They sleep walked into the Louisville game.
They sleep walked into this game.

If they do this in the NCAA tournament, they'll be gone in the first weekend with Pope chirping in the post game about what a blessing it is to work with such a great collection of young men.
I’m a huge Pope supporter but if his teams aren’t ready to play by the tip off that’s on Pope as much as the team. I’m 💯 all in on Pope but I don’t really wanna hear we were in a funk today.

It’s been one and done for us all night, long rebounds and our inability to stop them from driving and scoring has killed is. What’s bad is Bradshaw has hurt us to, he hasn’t even played in a while. Tonight just wasn’t our night, but they sure played well, we look like they did against Auburn.

I at least LIKED last years team.

I just don't really like our guys. Dont hate them or anything, theyre all just meh. I like Kerr and his swagger because hes the pesky player we need, like Butler's ability and think he's one of the fee players here who could start on some of Cals teams..

The rest are just totally forgettable for me. I don't find myself thinking "man, can't wait to see what Robinson is gonna do on the court today" like I did with so many past players.
And you were probably ready for Cal to go…

I don't mind losing, but when a team wants it more than Kentucky's guys do, that's inexcusable.

This was an effort and desire issue.
I was literally just saying the exact same thing.
The level of effort displayed by Ohio State is impressive.
They deserve to win this game.

This isn’t the 1st time the lack of intensity and effort wasn’t there.

OSU had to shoot over their heads for their game plan to work. And they did. Tough night. Gotta know teams are gonna watch this tape.
They’re shooting over their heads because Thornton and Mobley can get any shot they want whenever they want. They aren’t bombing away from 3.

We will lose probably 8 to 9 this year. Be around a 5 or 6 seed. Unless, we learn to play defense and shoot better. We are terrible at rim protection. We need a shot blocker.

I am a little worried to see how Pope doesn't have these guys fired up. I've been a huge fan of his so far, but he might be leaning a little too much into being a players-coach. He's gonna have to get up in some asses tomorrow.

We are playing very selfish on offense.. Tunnel vision selfish. Butler can't get the offense going at all because he can't out physical the OSU guards.

Our bigs had a chance to shine today but played way too soft.

OSU had a great game plan and slowed our fast break offense to a crawl.

Coaches will take advantage of this game and use it against us for sure.
