Next season look for Megan Prince and Shannon Smith to be used quite a bit as they will develop into #2 starter, and closer for the Cats. Both are talented freshmen, who will play a lot of summer ball, and should improve quite a bit.
Yes this was a tough loss, but it will benefit the team next season, and making the CWS will only help the team in many awys. While they lose some tremendous seniors, Cumbess, Smith, Gains, Jolly, and Carroll, they return several fine players, Joiner, Saggerman, Stokes, Samuel, Steed, Richardson, and of course Nunley. They also were able to RS a couple of freshmen, and also return Ansley Smith, who will be a jr. and play 2nd base.
The future is very bright for UK softball, and you may see them back in the OKC next year. Please lay off Coach Lawson, as she has brought the program from the outhouse to the penthouse in her 7 seasons at UK !!
