Cats take on the Tide at 9:45 approx. #2 seed Alabama vs #14 seed Kentucky. Winner advances to winners brackett finals. UK with it's tremendous 50-17 record against one of College softball's Blue bloods, and 2012 NC the Crimson Tide.
After the Baseball teams' losing effort todfay against Kansas, this may help lift the spirits, if the Cats can pull off the upset.

Bama gets a lead off double, bunts the runner to 3rd, and there she stays. A pop up to 3rd and a ground out to short. Great job of getting out of it, Cats coming up bottom of the 1st !

Nunley retires 1st two Bama hitters, then gives up a single, and a 2 run HR. Tide leads 2-0, going to the bottom of the 2nd.

That was a big hit. Hopefully the girls can rally and bounce back from that.

Women's sports announcers are painfully annoying. It is just very largely agenda based. They don't seem to be talking about the game as much as they just like to talk about how great certain players are or how the sport is getting more competitive. Plus they love to toot the horn of the best players and teams. I grow weary of it pretty quickly.

End rant.

Agree wholeheartily, sometimes they don't even acknowledge the UK batters at the plate !

Yea, it might as well just be 2.5 hours of talking about Alabama's pitcher. Calling her "the J Train" and after one inning the in studio announcer pointed out that she had a no hitter.

Bases loaded no one out and no runners scored. Gaines needed to put the ball in play with 0 outs. Can't take strike 3 looking.

in fairness she struck out looking on a pitch that was clearly high and out of the zone. Also looked to me like that wasn't a very good call on the double play to end the game. IMO she was safe at first

Oh Man, Heartbreak hotel. Bases loaded, no outs, and no runs. Just waited a little too late to get the bats going, actually out hit Bama 4 to 3.

True. She did have a good at bat prior to strike 3. Wasn't like she was blown away in 3 pitches. I just think down 2 with the bases loaded you have to put the ball in ball. It wasn't like that ball was well out of the zone. It was close enough where she could've swung the bat. Not blaming the game on her, not saying that. I'm just saying that was a tough out to take.

That ball was at about the same height as the Alabama hitters pitch that she hit for a home run. Kind of sad that we ended up outhitting them and we lost 2-0.

True, but I believe those last 2 innings should give the Cats confidence that they can hit against the best. This can actually help them going forward, as they play the winner of Baylor-Fla. State tonight.

Had their chances against about the best P around. Agree that last two batters helped their P by swinging at pitches out of the zone.

Team sure doesn't look out of place. Very steady on D. Good showing.

Question:

Nunley has been a stud and literally pitched every inning except the Georgia game where we lost in the SEC tournament.

With the L would it be possible for Nunley to pitched every pitch from here on out assuming we make it to the finals? It seems like it would be a tough thing to do? Is the 2nd pitcher behind Nunley capable of pitching to a high enough level to win?

As far as I know she should be okay to continue to pitch. I don't think that it is a ton of strain on their arms pitching underhand so I think she will be able to go deep into this tournament.

Are bowlers limited to how many balls they can throw? Seems like a similar motion.

Saw a high school sophomore throw 9 games in two days at the state tourney. I assume any softball pitcher worth a darn at not fat as hell could do the same. It was nearly triple digits all weekend too, many fans passed out in the heat. These are young people, they can do anything if you give them a shot.

She pitched 3 games in less than 24 hours in the UCLA super regional. So far in the CWS she pitches once a day, so she will be fine I suppose.
